I don't remember exactly what we were ever really 1st in. It certainly wasn't the pilot contract. Travel awards don't count since they are paid for by management. The largest we ever got was 5th largest airline, and that was only because DAL and NWA merged.
The only thing CAL was 1st in was convincing us to work cheap to make the airline great and then having us believe we were the "best".

Wow, I touched a nerve huh? Did you have anything to with this:
UAL Pilots > UAL MEC Public Page
So, let's see. Try going to the UAL MEC web site and search for the SSC report from Summer 2005 (search for anything!). Or try this, go to the Jumpseat guide on the MEC site and tell me who rides first on United metal, Colgan or ASA (hint, they both ceased operations about 5 years ago). Or assume your a member of the media wanting to read a press release from the MEC. Too bad! you have to log in first. I'm sure I'm not the only pilot who has a problem with wrong, outdated, and inaccessible information from an organization that claims to represent me.
You read my criticism as a slap at fellow United pilots, but you couldn't be more wrong. UAL pilot volunteers are no doubt the life blood of the union and their collective body of work should be available. The sad reality is that UAL MEC communications has become Facebook and Twitter posts punctuated by an occasional email, I'm not OK with that.
ALPA National provides the IT infrastructure and full-time MEC office communications staff. Do you think we're getting our money's worth? I don't.
At what point do UAL pilots demand adequate resources and staff from Herndon?

Looking at the top line it appears that the UAL MEC website is simply a space within the ALPA-N website for IT-challenged member organizations to use. A lot of the links on the UAL MEC site appear to simply route us to pre-existing LUAL pages from an earlier time.

...gross negligence and deficiently in our communications structure...

You mean the high school go daddy website vs professional glossy high tech websites.

Finally, we are getting to the problem thanks to APC's unemotional citing of FACTS. Obviously, since FDX and DALPA pilots' web sites are updated the issue is not ALPA Int'l and their infrastructure. Now that we have identified the problem maybe we can get it the attention required to fix it.
The problem IS Herndon, they control the membership database and thus the integrated logon. The PDR platform, which is also a flawed IT tool, relies on integrated log on. Until the United MEC demands better IT from Herndon, nothing will change. This isn't a case of simply copying what DAL has done. UAL MEC won't abandon PDR (nor should it) and Herndon only has to outlast the current MC.

Before you too high up on your soapbox, realize that other MECs don't share the same IT platform/versions as UAL and you really haven't "identified the problem".

"Before you (get) too high up on your (gross negligence) soapbox" you might want to know that ALPA Int'l is changing their underlying IT infrastructure in the next few months, so things "will change." Maybe, just maybe, the United MEC smartly chose to wait for that before expending their limited resources on their own website.
I'll apologize and never mention this again if you can point to one single published compilation of action, committee agenda item, or floor resolution that would even hint that the UAL MEC is even remotely aware of the issue, much less taking action.

Is this a thread about union communications, or the company's new story-teller.....??
I forget.....
See, I told you we aren't good at following stories.
Once upon a time jack and jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Can't recall how it ends, but I think Jack was listening to his story about the origin of steel and how water pails are made and Jill was busy recalling the good ole glory days of pure spring fed streams, and something apparently happened. Jack and Jill were never heard from again.

Everything is a story, it's how we're wired. Have you ever seen a successful elected official, ALPA or otherwise, run a successful campaign or inspire change based solely on reciting bullet points? Of course you haven't, there's always bias, rhetoric, color, and pandering....through story.
In the digital world we live in it's never been more important for organizations to have a suitable, nimble, responsive, and usable platform to share, and guide, the collective dialog. Herndon continues to fall short of the obligation to provide that resource just as the UAL MEC continues to ignore the importance of such reach. As a union member, I'm not happy about that.
