I was going to miss a trip about 15 years ago. I pulled out my credit card and bought a ticket. Over 900 dollars for a 90 minute flight.

900 dollars one time, divided by 20 years of commuting, is slightly above zilch. My bank account doesn't remember that hole in it, nor do I.

You can do it 10 times in a row and you should not be "disciplined". As long as you follow the contract you are golden.

Don't make a habit of it ? I would laugh out loud as I hung up the phone on him/her.

Sounds like something only the regulars to HKG would do to ensure they made their trip!

15 years ago there wasn't a commuter policy codified in the FOM and CBA. Follow the FOM and CBA policy and there's no problem other than that sucking sound in your paycheck for missing a trip.

Buying a ticket may be better than losing the entire value of a pairing. I just ran into that trying to commute on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
