What the company got was "labor stability." There were changes in leadership that needed to be made and they didn't have the focus, time, or ability to juggle simultaneous complex negotiations with multiple work groups. That is a very plausible explanation and it is correct.

Company could have just as easily said they don’t want it for xxx dollars and figured out a way to code share the segments.
Not just more flying, but more ultra long haul flying.

Leverage with FRMS? I don't get it. It benefits the company, and us. We are pulling on the same end of the rope. Why on god's green earth would we want to make it difficult to fly ultra long haul.

Same guys complaining we code share away to ANA and Lufthansa.

I’m sure the company would give us 30% + to give up scope maybe 50% to give up 100 seats. Can we count on your yes vote?
C'mon man. REALLY? Scope? 100 seats? Not even in the same ballpark. Relax. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Bored, bored, bored....

CA I'm flying with said we only have three of the Chinese Airbii on the line as they are proving very expensive to reconfigure. Said we weren't getting more. Any truth to this Bus guys? I believe it might be expensive/difficult but I would be surprised to find that we aren't getting all of our announced aircraft.

Of course, the additional used Airbii rumor has been hanging out there some time now. Perhaps it has fallen through or we've had second thoughts?

I can confirm that is not true...Two weeks ago I flew a China trip (777) and we had a United test pilot on board flying to China to do an acceptance flight on one of the aircraft we are buying. Had him on board again two days later for our return to SFO. I chatted with him for a while...he said the test flight went fine. Another rumor bites the dust.

We actually have 8 online.

3 319s in mod (the newest one we took delivery of on friday 12/1)
2 320s in mod

These planes are leased I doubt United is spending very much money other than labor to get these planes up and running.

The interiors are completely reconfigugured to match the United brand. New seats, bulkheads, side panels etc.

Yes I realize that. But the reason it is taking so long to get these planes spun up is because they were not looked over very well in China. Its taking ALOT to get them up to FAA/United standards. That cost is going to be absorbed by the leasing agency.

The cost of the interiors is a fixed cost that is already known, not something that would surprise United and cause a second guessing of an aircraft purchase/lease.

I think they are all coming, but yes they have been much more expensive than planned to get online.
I do know they ignored some warnings that this would happen.
