There are NO guarantees that FedEx will hire you. And for FedEx, it's High SSN's that choose first. So a perfect SSN would end in 9999 and be the most Senior Person on that particular newhire date.
As a FedEx guy, domestic only, I'm at roughly 2M miles earned DH'ing over a 20 year career. I was very fortunate to be hired as a DC10 Engineer at a time when Reserves weren't being used much and the over 60 Memphis guys bid Reserve and avoided Pax land so for the vast majority of my career I've held DDH's and been paid to get to work. But I've also stayed "Junior" relative to what I could hold. IOW-stayed an engineer, stayed an FO, chose the NB Captain (and occasional layovers at home) rather than chasing $$.
Seniority is a hell of a drug.
And for those at FedEx chasing $$, the money's great, but when you're Junior....many of those folks are only being awarded the remnants of Vacation|Training|Other conflicted trips\reserve days...what we call Secondary Lines and that lack of control of your destiny can suck huge.
As a Cargo guy, every time I cruise the Civilian side of the airport I'm so happy United passed me by and I wound up at FedEx (Not least of which is I would've been furloughed twice)
So, UPS or FedEx is like winning the lottery. Either would be a great career. If you're closer to a UPS hub, the QOL of living in domicile is huge and should be at least part of your consideration. Driving to PHL might be easier than Jumpseating anywhere.

Anyone here have experience commuting to SDF from PNS or other Gulf Coast airports? Curious to how difficult/easy it can be? Looks like UPS flies PNS-ABY-SDF and SDF-PNS on Tu-F; anybody have experience jump-seating these?
Also, anyone use the Allegiant flight from VPS-SDF that runs Su, Th & Sa?
It all seems strait forward but wanted to hear it from someone who's done it a few times. TIA!

The jumpseat on Allegiant is about as close to a sure thing that you’ll find on a PAX airline. The flight deck jumpseat is rarely occupied and if it is, OAL pilot jumpseaters are permitted to ride on a spare cabin jumpseat.

I can speak to the Allegiant portion of your question. Several people use it, unfortunately it goes away October 30th until next spring/summer.

Commuting from ILM as a New Hire?
Does anyone have experience commuting from Wilmington, NC as a new hire? Sounds like it could be complicated getting to ANC, maybe not so much SDF. Allso wondering if you can bid the 14day lines in ANC to cut down the commute.

The schedule optimizer has really taken a hit on QOL in ANC. I think there were only 2 true 14 day on lines.

You only really see clean week on, week off lines on the domestic fleets in the form of night hub flying (“nite sort”). Long haul is most often 14 days (out of 28) broken into 2-3 work blocks of varying days: 11&3, 8&6, 6&5&3, etc.
