Domiciles, or the lack of decent domicile choices at Brown are a big problem (for me) considering commuting under these current schedules.
Tired of being tired all the time and the commute, regardless of how easy, still contributes in wearing you down.
To me, the whole dynamic of this place / the thought of 20 something more years of it is hard to digest…
Anyway, not defending my position here or saying the grass is greener elsewhere, etc., just offering some insight on my thought process to potential new hires and stating that there are some of us on the seniority list eyeballing other options - I’m not the only one. But ya know, golden handcuffs and all….

If living in Louisville was an option for you, do you think you’d be as interested in leaving. My understanding is that’s domicile living at UPS probably trumps domicile living at pax—assuming you like Kentucky. Bonus question: is there a “base housing” area in sdf like peachtree city is for delta folks?

If we weren’t almost certainly heading into a recession I’d probably (try to) jump over to DL. As this TA extension exposed, we most likely aren’t getting a home run in the next contract on pay or any significant scheduling improvements.

You sound pretty miserable brother, and you didn’t offer a good reason to not move on to Delta. Even a bad economy isn’t stopping the massive pilot shortage coming to the legacies. I’m not sure how long you’ve been here, but golden handcuffs aren’t a thing if you hate your job this much. Sounds like it would be a mistake you’d always regret to not pursue the other side of this industry. Life’s too short…

Miserable? Hate this job? Apparently you guys haven’t been reading these threads for the last 8+ years now but go ahead and keep missing the point I was trying to make.
For the potential new hires: a lot of IPA folk think UPS is the best and highest paying pilot job in the universe and some of them can’t comprehend how others could possibly disagree. Read these threads from pre-2014 if you want to see the other side of the coin. I think we all agree Boiler is a reputable poster - even he constantly writes, “…UPS is not for everyone.” My point is that some of us realize this (to various degrees of agreement) after they’ve been on property for a while. Do your research! Buyer beware.

I think a lot of that comes from the fact quite a few of these trips should be illegal no matter one’s seniority. That said, not using the fatigue policy for its intended use definitely makes the problem worse.

Everyone who surfs the B&G knows who you are talking about. I happen to agree with the poster that our current scheduling rules have been essentially compromised by the “optimizer” software. I’m not sure if any rules we could negotiate would survive contact with the software. This is an industry wide issue, but our heavy dose of night flying can make it intolerable.
