Also, anyone use the Allegiant flight from VPS-SDF that runs Su, Th & Sa?

It all seems strait forward but wanted to hear it from someone who's done it a few times. TIA!
UPS usually has an A300 in PNS. It goes through Albany, Ga but they usually turn it quickly there. Maybe 45 minutes on the ground. You’ll get jumpseat paperwork before and won’t have to get out of your seat in the ground. Sometimes they route it directly to SDF or through BHM. Mobile used to be our Gateway but the airport folks wouldn’t play nice with UPS do they opened a gateway in PNS 7 or 8 years ago.

I don’t think you’ll have any issues commuting out on Pensacola on UPS.

Thanks for the reply, that’s awesome to hear!

11&3 is rough for commuting.

I would bid lines that had one or two days off in between trips. It was brutal since you're dishing out money for the hotel for the commute up and for the one or two nights in between trips.

Annoying is the operative word - another commute for a small trip. In Sdf, that 3 day is usually a SDF (CGN) SDF trip, or less common, SDF (HNL) ONT-SDF. Parenthesis = layover.

I would trip trade to spread the trips out.

If you jump into and out of trips then no need for hotel on front and back ends. Otherwise, a lot of commuters keep a Crashpad for this. I don’t mind an occasional hotel if it saves me a commute in the bid period.

Usually my trip trade ends up with a lovely message saying, "denied due to insufficient reserve coverage." And with new hires going to ANC, I wouldn't suggest jumping straight into a trip.

Obviously. Was speaking in terms of post-probation.

Don’t like your bid awarded schedule, trade, drop use BV days, whatever you have to do. Can’t do that in ANC -> txsfr to SDF, switch fleets. I was the plug for several bid periods and was always able to trade into something that worked better than my bid award (in SDF). You can’t just try 1 transaction, have it get denied, then shrug your shoulders…. Sometime you have to keep trying for days, even up to a couple of weeks. Not ideal and a major pain in the rear but it’s something.

On the flip side / at the other end of the seniority spectrum, I still need to trade stuff around here and there, usually to tweak days off or make a commute easier. Hopefully the next contract will address scheduling issues more than $$

This right here. The Trip Board takes patience. You can increase your odds by advertising on the B&G the trips you have on the board. Our contract has significant room for improvements to the scheduling process, but it’s still possible to massage things a fair amount. If you hate your fleet, bid to something different. There is huge variation in schedules between fleets due to the wide variety of different flying they do. Just remember, the MD sucks and the Bus is amazing. Stay away from the MD. Your life will be hell.
