Ding Ding Ding! This guy gets it regarding any commute anywhere: “Just gotta stay on top of it!” Couldn’t be said better. May it be easier than expected for you.

Commuted to ANC for 11 years, always made it. Knew where I was 12 days out and booked on time. Not a big deal

It's gotten worse. Not insurmountable, but it can be a challenge. Tons of Pri 3s showing up at random. I wouldn't say "don't do it", but it's not nothing.

I just received my light twin CJO and I have a few commuting questions!

1. I have family living SW of Lexington ~ 1hr 25min from the Edgewood parking lot. I'm assuming that even if I have my bags packed, and I'm 5 min from the door, it is still a "bad" plan to live that far from SDF and be on reserve. What is the farthest that one could reasonably live from SDF and still make the 1.5hr callout?

2. I am in the light twin class: how long till I can hold a SDF line?

3. If I chose to commute from IAD, what does that look like? Do the trips always/typically start in the AM after the sort? If trips start in the AM, do the work rules allow me to jumpsuit on the PM flight out of IAD to SDF or would I need to get to Louisville sooner?

TIA

1. Bad plan esp on probation. I wld think an hour away max. In bed snoring at 2am to coherence behind the driver wheel takes longer than 5 min.

2. Not that long. He are hiring plenty. I will let a jr guy on the fleet give exact times.

3. typically. yes jumpseat in the PM works

[QUOTE=jetlaggy;3389100]1. Bad plan esp on probation. I wld think an hour away max. In bed snoring at 2am to coherence behind the driver wheel takes longer than 5 min.

In addition, you have to check in on a computer in ops for your assignment.
So even if you swipe into the employee lot, you have to take the shuttle over.
I plan on 20 minutes for myself.

Not true. Check in from anywhere you have CMS access has been enabled since the pandemic started. It has obviously not been a problem for the company.

Unless they’ve changed it, you can only check in on CMS that is connected to the ASC internet. So you still have to be in ops.

From 13.B.6: "No crewmember shall be subject to discipline if they at least arrive at the guard shack or parking lot card reader for that domicile within the required call out time."
That said, I always check in on CMS before call out time, whether in ops or on my phone.

Again, not true!! Try it on your phone once. It has been open/changed since the pandemic.
