Rumors are definitely flying. While I don’t doubt there will be displacements off the MD on the next bid, I can’t see us shrinking back down to 28-2900 pilots. We may shrink as low as 3200 (think no hiring for another 18 months) if the slowdown in business continues, but I’m guessing that corporate still would like to grow into all of the jets we have coming over the next couple years. Our illustrious CEO would no doubt prefer to close out her five year tenure on a high note.

I can’t see a scenario where we grow anytime soon. Those 76s are most likely going to be MD replacements. As far as Carol wanting to grow before she leaves don’t forget her motto of better not bigger. She seems perfectly content to shrink the company. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Nope, UPS now offering early retirement and we are below, well below pre covid volume. Since this is the hiring thread, I would say we are now in a hiring freeze era now like 2008-2014. Hope is doesn’t last that long, but it’s not resuming anytime soon. Let’s hope UPS doesn’t go down the 2010 road again.

Looks like UPS is sponsoring this conference. Not sure what it means as far as recruiting goes.

There is no confirmation to be given because management will not confirm or deny this. However, I’d bet money that we don’t have a system bid until next year and no more new hires until June of 2024. The package business volumes are down significantly. Take the best job offered and if this is your dream continue to reapply when we reopen the window. Sorry the news isn’t more cheerful for applicants.
Do you think the early retirements offset the overstaff or are there still rumors of further measures being taken within the company?
