PHL doesn’t have a day sort, but rumors of DFW NDA sort gone and a few PHL NDA flights possibly gone. Our postal volume is actually going up, which will keep the Friday afternoon flights going. There is no longer going to be a Friday afternoon sort, but will be a postal sort.

I was wrong I guess, the union just announced major cutbacks. Gonna be a fun few years ahead. If you are in the pool, I would look elsewhere.

Per an email from our EB, there will be some significant reductions in the shape and size of our domestic operations. The company is NOT throwing around the F word. The company is staring down the barrel of a strike that would shut the company down unless it comes to terms with the Teamsters (RLA is NA). This may be related to those negotiations, it may be purely a response to current economic conditions, or some of both. In any case, this is not the year to buy your wife a Bentley.

Nothing to see here.

I don’t think it will last a few years, maybe late next year things will start to stabilize. A lot of post Covid adjustments being made by the economic players.

I was talking about our upcoming contract negotiation. Going to be an interesting few years ahead. I have no idea about hiring, but it ain’t happening anytime soon. Also, really interesting about the postal volume as I had one of the heads of that operation on my jump seat and he was very excited about the increase in that area. How things have obviously changed.

I’m not saying the economy is gangbusters but how much of this is the company posturing for negotiations? Seems to me like they might do this to put the fear in the Teamsters right in time for July. Get a contract signed, then all of a sudden bring these flights back around October for peak. Who knows. I’m financially ready for the downturn but also taking the 30,000 foot view.
