UPS Officially Informs IPA of Network Changes
This morning, UPS informed the IPA of network changes that will occur due to significantly lower volume levels in the system.
Beginning in Bid Period 5 (July), UPS intends to cease the DFW NDA sort, the PHL 2nd Day Air sort, as well as some reductions to contractual postal flying.
The IPA pressed the Company on any discussion of potential crew staffing reductions as a result of these changes. UPS maintains that there is currently no plan to reduce staffing beyond what will be absorbed through anticipated attrition.
The IPA will communicate further information as it is available.

Worth noting for context, the Chief Pilot Newsletter from today made no mention of the reductions to the network (instead, highlighted UPS welcoming the first 2 of 27 767s to be delivered by 2026). The new aircraft will “help meet anticipated future demand in high-growth areas like healthcare, small business, and international markets”. IMO, will be more concerning if they start messing with the delivery schedule.

Correct……Pax are a lagging indicator of the economy. It may take a year or so for them to ****e the bed, but they will…… like always…..it’s the cycle. It’s always a surprise to the new guys, but it’s a wash rinse and repeat cycle, what……every 7-10 years or so? Right?

A secondhand birdie told me that he heard from a reliable source in the hiring department that they most likely won't hire any this year. And possibly not next year either.
I've personally moved on and found a great landing spot.

Good for you. I wouldn’t lose any sleep about not getting on at UPS. There are soooo many good opportunities out there. Grab a seniority number at a major airlinws near where you live and never look back.
