8 aircraft parked until Peak, 7 MDs retiring end of '23.
21 VLOA (off without pay, but full benefits for the 56 day bid period)
45 RDG (Reduced Guarantee lines, basically half pay for half work)

I see a system bid as well, but not one that generates new hire classes, another reshuffle of the deck chairs.

I understand why someone would bail to Delta or United right now. However, we are “struggling” right now and our financial numbers compare very nicely with Delta which just set records for their profitability.Delta June Quarter 2023 GAAP Financial Results
  • Record operating revenue of $15.6 billion
  • Record operating income of $2.5 billion with an operating margin of 16.0 percent
  • Pre-tax income of $2.3 billion with a pre-tax margin of 14.9 percent

UPS 2nd Quarter
  • Consolidated Revenues of $22.1B, Compared to $24.8B Last Year
  • Consolidated Operating Profit of $2.8B; Adj. Consolidated Operating Profit of $2.9B
  • Consolidated Operating Margin of 12.6%; Adjusted Consolidated Operating Margin of 13.2%
Disappointing that our EB pushed for a contract extension and now other carriers will be ahead of us in pay.

I doubt any new TA could be much worse than failed one.

The base structure of their current contract and TA-1 along with the new DRIVE of corporate indicates they have a long way to go to get anywhere close to a good contract ratified. This will be a contract to watch for sure.

I suspect that unless they cave it will be 2-3 years before they get the contract they are due.
