I think after peak, many things will be on the table depending on volume.

If UPS felt the airline was overstaffed and offered VTP, then what is the follow on plan? Leave the airline as is? Big vacancy bid? Other?

I don't understand the math there. If you upgrade 50 FOs and go with Boiler's numbers, that is 50 less FOs (310)
Also 50 more Capts so net 100 diffetence

I mean, if we copy what the airlines did during covid. Take a VLOA and fly somewhere else for a certain amount of years.

That memo made my ears perk up. For a company that loves control it’s surprising to see them even entertain the thought of someone doing other flying that would count towards your duty limit. I’ve seen places do that for flying that doesn’t count towards your duty limit. I’d also be surprised to find someone here who was doing flying outside of the company that counted towards their duty limit. Idk anyone who would put their career in jeopardy here for a few extra bucks, and where they would find the time? Unless they’re one of the lucky ones doing reserve now and not getting called.

I wouldnt be surprised if UPS denies all requests and this is an effort to flush out the offenders

There have always been guys flying corporate on the side. A lot of them were/are the international guys who only block about 300 hours/year and have 2 week blocks off.

I read it the same way. I think it's a warning shot that they're on the radar and had better ask nicely (and get denied) or else.

"Its U.S. division, which accounted for 58% of adjusted operating profit in the second quarter, cut labor hours by almost 10% and lowered its management headcount by 2,500. It also reduced flights by moving more air volume into its Worldport hub in Louisville, Kentucky, and improved efficiency by shifting package flows from smaller non-automated buildings to larger automated facilities."
