Hell I'd be happy if we replaced the two we lost so tragically. I also think the right word to use when discribing their management culture is toxic!

[QUOTE=Commando;2065220]One would have to have Zero other choices to come to UPS. It is that bad. And I've been here 22 years.
Come on!! Not even close. I and everyone else on this board could name at least 10 airlines that would be far worse than UPS. If you are looking for hugs and kisses every time you come to work, like some here, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for good pay, benefits, and time off....UPS is definitely worth a look.

Whatever. You obviously have low standards for your work environment. Good Pay, not great by a long shot. So why come work in a Toxic depressing place for less $ than the top three Majors? Way less Pay at that.
And like I said in the previous post. STAGNATION! No Aircraft Orders, Amazon Air coming in the next decade, 15 year Upgrade if your lucky to be on the bottom for another 10 years. Soon to be a 20 year upgrade. While DL, AMR, and UAL have 2 to 6 year upgrades? And with pay $100,000 higher. And for a company that likes you.
No Brainer. I'm past V1, but this is the last place I would come to with the other choices out there.

I fear this is a big lie. There will not be this mass exodus. I see maybe 100 leave early. Look at the retirements the last 5 years. 95% go to the last day they can. 64 and 51 weeks old.

Actually in 2015 we were to have 28 retirements due to age 65......52 guys actually retired.

It would be interesting to know average retirement age. I'd suspect 63-64, but I'm only guessing from the outside looking in. Also, it would be nice to know how it compares to FedEx

The Corporate structure here is suffocating. seriously. Depressing is a good word for it. Small things like the cafeteria, catering, hotels, QOL stuff here is really, really bad. And a very young work force. Retirements are a joke until 2024.
And now add to this, NO AIRCRAFT ORDERS. No Expansion in a decade. No new cities opened in forever. Did I mention No aircraft have been delivered here in 10 years. UPS ATL doesn't care about the Airline. Never will.
When DL has two year NB NY Captains and has some NB Captains making over $370,000 a year, why would this place even be under consideration?? Our pay is $100,000 less and fly night turns with lithium batteries that burn up. Seriously?

To the OP: some UPS guys have little understanding what's it's like at other airlines. They feel that things like consistent trip trade denials due to insufficient reserves are unique to UPS, that Delta and FedEx always stay at hotels like the Four Seasons and couldn't possibly have a crappy hotel in their system (HNL?????), nor would they ever not get a USA today in the morning with a free breakfast; they have never been to the UAL cafeteria in ORD, they think that there are no **** schedules anywhere but UPS, and believe everyone else has a personal chef onboard to whip up 3 Michelin star meals. Oh, and nowhere else will you find an adversarial culture... Notice they rarely mention any of the good points at UPS like health care benefits, 2nd best retirement after FedEx. Not saying that Brown is awesome but it isn't the ship hole some of these guys paint it as. Just consider the source of some the posts you read.
Agreed that the movement here is something YOU need to seriously consider but remember, the air district at UPS is a small division supporting a massive operation which is growing and making a **** pile of money. You don't come here to work for an airline, you come here to support a global transportation and logistics company. ATL cares about the airline, it supports a massive revenue stream that ultimately offers you less career volatility. There is recession and age 67 looming on the horizon weakening the probability of continued 2yr upgrades and $60K PS checks while Ups could very easily expand in house flying and start a wave of air district growth - whoTF knows...but being junior here is better than being senior at a lot of other places and at least equal to or better than being junior at the other legacies. I can't even hold most of the base trips on my fleet, never had to sit reserve, and can trade, about a third of the time, into good international trips, averaging 16/28 days off or 17.5/cal month. I also don't fly night sort. I also don't get depressed about the culture; I have expectation zero and a life that keeps me a long way from the politics of Brown on my days off.
So to the OP, if you are getting multiple offers, the consensus seems to be to go somewhere else. If not, Brown ain't a bad place to head to. I'd watch this next contract; my slight optimism is based on an expectation that we will see lots of fixes and improvements. But, if it's a status quo or mildly concessionary I'd put brown as your last resort among the big 6.

Completely agree with FTFF. Guys can forget how good they have it (I mean no disrespect to the 109).
I worked for Brown as a package car driver (only for a summer). I had a chance to see the labor-management animosity, but also had a chance to see how the company knows how to make TONS of cash, during good times and bad. That counts for a lot, IMO.
I don't pretend to know the intricacies of the furlough, but my understanding is that it had to do less with a need for furlough and more with ATL showing the IPA who calls the shots during negotiations.
UPS was always in my top 3, I can't believe anyone would have it lower than #6 on their list of hopefuls.
BTW, where's Lil' Seinfeld chiming in with all the rosiness over there?
