New hire here. I have an August class date right now and I need some info on what's going on with AWAC. With PDT moving into PHL should I concerned at all that I won't have a job come 2018? -And as for going to the majors what are my chances of moving on to them within the next few years? I'm 23 and I really want to start out at a place that's going to grow my career, not hold it back.

However, that has come to a pass now.
Do yourself a favor and go to Piedmont. Seriously. I honestly see nothing to gain by going to AWAC over Piedmont at this point.
AWAC hired a bunch of guys about 10 years ago. Guys that are still there prior to that (ie the 10+ crowd) most likely aren't (or can't) move on. Of the guys hired 10 years ago, roughly 1/3 have moved on telling me a good portion also aren't going to jump ship. It's basically the next ASA, XJT, SKYW, etc. Top heavy, little movement (for CA's, lots of junior FO's leaving) etc.
That being said, you could luck out. But even if everything goes your way at AWAC, you'd still be in a worse position because you don't have that guaranteed job waiting for you.

Look. AWAC is an absolute class act when compared to any other regional. I and most others sincerely doubt this place won't still be operating long past 2018. What do you think is going to hold you back? Not upgrading here? Having to go to another regional in the event of a worst case scenario? So what you're 23, probably don't have 1000 121 time... Get it somewhere respectable and when awac announces new flying you'll be so happy you're here. Do you want to be in a major interview telling them you were an awac pilot because they treat their employees well and have a great contract or do you want to tell them you went to PSA because you saw a percieved shortcut , emphasis on perceived, where you believed that chasing a quick upgrade somehow makes you more deserving than somebody with more experience than you.
Nobody cares where you came from. Except Delta, who doesn't touch Comair guys.
Go to whichever company you think offers the best of what you want out of the job. Get in the training dept or some other leadership role and network. That's how you get the next job, not by picking the one with a great contract.

Allegiant and Frontier maybe. But the vast majority of quality majors hire mostly Captains, and more often than not line check guys. When was the last time an FO was a check airman? It doesn't happen.
No matter the company or airplane you're operating, what sets people apart is PIC and LCA credentials.
Now, has Delta/UAL/AA hired AWAC FO's? Maybe one that I know of? Outside of that it's been left seaters. Just the way it is.

You're wrong, and your point was you want people to think the majors care where you work. They don't give a crap.

Vacation, health care and many more smaller items that make the QOL here tops. Some may say that is all well and good but no flying in a few years...the little things still matter as nothing is absolute...
...as you just don't know what things are going to be like in two years. This year's sexy pick could be a mistake in 2018. Those offering a fast track to the left seat have a lot of poop smell while you are enjoying all the sex.
AWAC will likely not be shutting down in 2018...our performance is tops and that does mean something to mainline airlines that are looking for ways to make up for their wholly-owneds that sometimes can't seem to get it done consistently.
You being 23 could probably afford to languish as an FO at a place like PSA as their upgrade schedule grinds to a halt...and it will.
That being said, today AWAC can't promise you stability until you find a mainline to hire you...none of the regionals can...but you are more likely to be able to afford your time at the regionals and be much happier.
See you in class.
