You’re not forced to work for a union represented company. You’re a big boy. Put in your two weeks and head on over to another job that doesn’t have union representation.

Our union although imperfect, is trying harder then it ever has before. We have in my mind the best guy in our industry at the top, for this circumstance. He is trying to prevent and mitigate furloughs. I mean that, the train is barreling down the tracks, his is standing on there, he will not move, hey may not stop it but he is 100% committed to trying.
There are other angles to work, 60hr Max mo. maybe.... something like that would have to be voted on. I just don’t think it has a chance in passing ratification, maybe I am wrong.
This one isn’t the company’s fault, it’s definitely not the unions fault, there are good people on both sides, sometimes your dealt a really bad hand. This is the worst one I have ever seen.

You would make an actual broken record blush. Quit your incessant whining about them/him/her and ignore their/his/her posts and move on. Congratulations, you're really shrewd for questioning their motives for posting, want a cookie? Here's the thing though - we are all capable of thinking critically and you getting your panties in a twist every time he/she/they post something helps exactly nobody.

BTW if it took you reading MEA/OTZ's posts to start to feel "fear" about furloughs, you are an abject moron. Stop pretending that the numbers one or two people throw up here on APC, true or not, are what junior people here are basing their unease on - it's an insult to everyone's intelligence.

The same reason the union has starting warning it's members how dangerous the FUD going around is? MEA/OTZ has claimed to have inside information and is pushing an agenda of fear. Now we have a new anti union thread. I'd consider it pretty moronic if one couldn't see right through this. Apparently, that is not the case.

Exactly, every union in history will release a statement the day furloughs are announced saying they were "surprised, shocked and dismayed" by the mgmts announcement. It's in the union playbook. It's not personal, it's business.

FUD? I'm afraid and uncertain because nobody is flying, there's nowhere to go anyway, nobody knows when leisure demand will return, let alone demand for business travel, airline managements across the spectrum have all committed to being smaller on the back side of this, airlines all over the world have laid off prodigious numbers of pilots, United just put out a bid that will displace more than a third of their seniority list, we here at Alaska don't even have a scope clause to save us from the inevitable outsourcing of our flying to cheaper third parties with fewer seats, etc. Our industry completely cratered in the span of a few weeks and nobody has ever seen anything like this and therefore nobody knows how/if/when we'll get out of it.

Of all the factors creating FUD, some guy on a message board doesn't even rate. That is, unless you are so oblivious to the situation currently unfolding that you weren't already fearful, uncertain, and doubtful. You specifically don't seem to think much of the rest of your pilot group if you think we need you to spam us with the same regurgitated conspiracy theory every time MEA or OTZ posts. Whether or not they have ulterior motives, they aren't saying anything on here that you, and every one of the rest of us on the bottom of the list, shouldn't have already seen as a possibility, and it's up to each one of us to think critically and make our own decisions not only about how to process the drivel on this forum but about everything else.

At this point it seems like you're personally offended by their presence here - but only offended enough to complain and preach to everyone else, not offended enough to actually take four whole clicks and add them to your Ignore list.

Correction...They are fighting for their future, not necessarily ours.

So you think attacking the union is a logical and helpful thing to do during this unprecedented time? Help me out. We’re both saying the same thing. I’m just not attacking the only group of people who at least claim to be trying to help me. Which, at least to me seems extremely dumb.
