Alaska Air Hiring

#2352

"Last week your JNC and MEC chairmen met with management and our mediator for another round of negotiating sessions. As has been reported, there was very little progress toward reaching an agreement that our pilots would be satisfied with. It is clear that management is still not interested in being serious at the table, despite our willingness to work hard to reach a fair and equitable joint collective bargaining agreement (JCBA). The next mediated session will be in two weeks. Time is quickly running out for management to make a deal inside of the mediated negotiations they agreed to in the transition and process agreement (TPA). Once the mediation period is over, both sides will begin to prepare for arbitration. Stay tuned for more information from your JNC on negotiations." MEC update June 5.
I'm trying to remain optimistic, but when BT and BM blow sunshine up "there", yet don't give our MEC's a glimmer of hope, I'm getting inspired to apply elsewhere.

Not saying it's not true at all. Your concerns are valid. But the beating of the dead horse is really getting old on the threat by certain people, that's all. There needs to be some serious improvements but constant negativity and bashing doesn't help. We all know Alaska needs to really step it up in a big way. Rally the troops instead of continually reminding everyone that it's not as good as delta.
Being in the middle of a merger of two VERY different airlines and cultures AND being in the middle of negotiations makes for a very difficult time. It's easy to get bogged down at a time like this. Gotta try to make this a better place.

Crickets over here. Nobody in my interview group that wasn't in the March class hasn't said anything about being assigned a class date either. Based on what I've heard, those being placed in the July 17 class should hear within a couple weeks.

I don't think it was a decision to do one rather than the other. Just a way to kick-off a busy training season. Will I see you there?

Really no mystery to Alaska Airlines. Small ,conservative regional airline....Very focused on the bottom line and rewarding wall street, shareholders, directors, board members etc....Have never paid anyone particularly well...Have sat in 8th to 10th place compensation wise for my 18yrs anyway....They have a very specific target they hire: Mchordites with a side gig, Horizon convicts, Alaska pilots, Legacy Brats and for the last 8 yrs or so anyone from the lgbtq community.....If you are not in one of those categories you likely wont get hired....It assures them of a yes vote whenever they need it......The merger diversion wont change a thing around here....pay work rules retirement scope etc.....sold for a yes vote around here.....not going to change...makes it the easiest job in the world....
