Hi AS,
I am a former C-17 pilot and current regional FO at SkyWest. I recently attended a AS Job Fair event and it went very well. I was told I was "what they were looking for and was good to go" and they were going to try and get me an interview in October, if not then Jan/Feb 2018. That was over a month ago and I have not heard anything but "crickets".

What, do you make minimum wage? We operate machinery, not perform brain surgery or work on Wall Street. Is there something wrong with being content making decent money and being around other happy folks that enjoy what they are doing. For ******* sakes already. Maybe you would have more money if you would sell your boat.

No matter what industry one is in and how much money they make, employees will not be happy knowing their peers at competitors make significantly more. Unfortunately we are in one of the only industries where we are married to our jobs.

My apps are out....
Being a native in the PNW I've always been partial to AS and would love to hear from them. I feel like the community fits my personality and when I fly a SkyWest tail painted with AS colors everyone seems happy (seriously even your gate agents are cheery, not sure how you pull that off, try to strike up a convo with a United ORD gate agent, I dare you). Don't care much about wide body, done that. Care more about having a smile on my face when I go to work and making a living wage. Feel like AS fits my bill.
However, at this point, whoever will actually call me back is the best damn airline in the world if you ask me.
DL is great, and my app is in. Lots of guys I used to fly with are happy there. Not sure my app is competitive. GPA isn't exactly 4.0.
Maybe with United firing up hiring soon it will put pressure on hiring departments across the board?
Fingers crossed

The pressure is already on our hiring department and pending the results of arbitration (award due on 10/29) it will either temporarily alleviate the pressure or will severely increase it. Keep in touch with your contacts here, especially the recruiter(s) you have met and best of luck as interviews resume this fall. If AA/DAL/UAL should call and offer you a job sooner...don't wait around for AS.

Yeah, they told me that, too...every time I've talked to them over the last four years.
I jumpseated on Alaska a couple months ago. The FO told me his story, which was that he had five internal recommendations and a check airman throwing his name at the chief pilot on a regular basis. It took three years for him to get an interview.
Every Alaska pilot I've talked to has told me pretty much the same thing: their hiring proces is a mystery to them. Nobody understands it.
Good luck. You'll need it.
