Alaska Air Hiring

BT was trying to push a HAL purchase late last fall, when the boards final vote broke “NO”, he walked. Even BM broke with BT and voted against, he really thinks one day he will run AAL😂. SWA got wind ALK was shopping and went over our books and made an offer, a weak offer but an offer none the less. JBLU’s offer to buy NK, required AS to explore a merger, this has went nowhere based on AS being dug in on brand and control. I was told AS was set to make a cash offer for JBLU until their Spirit offer was rejected. I was told PB has become chairman to explore the potential sale of AS. Recently, I have seen some things that made me confident a bigger fish has approached AS. I am reading tea leaves but am confident who the whale is.
I was told by someone else BM wants to go it alone and if we fail that the shareholders are protected by OneWorld and AAL. If we were to fail on our own, we would just fold into AAL. That same person said BM is intent on not giving us contract, ever. He believes he will force his proposal down our throats when the economic tables turn. In the mean time he will use the savings provided by us working under our current contract to establish long term deals with other labor groups. He is also confident we will be parked for 6 MO’s starting in June.🙄
And ah, maybe just go to UAL, I wouldn’t want anyone to go to an airline based on merger speculation. I would not come to AS, I would go to the best company that works best for that individual pilot. Now is the time, you really could go anywhere you want right now, why settle.

It would be fun to watch, but AS management top down thinks there is ZERO chance we will ever be released. They honestly believe it’s laughable, SW is actually laughing at you. They don’t think they have to do much in mediation, just show up and drag it out. No matter how little effort the put in, a release will never happen. Maybe they know something, maybe they paid for something, but they are laughing at the strike vote and expect zero shift in booking from it.

I spoke with CG at the most recent coffee sit in SEA. He said they were hopeful they would hear something by the end of this week, but that no timetable was given.
Sounds like the mediator was pretty upset with the company and their lack of preparation and un-willingness to engage on big ticket items. Hence the reason the third day of negotiations was cancelled during the last session.
He (CG) reiterated that we have a LONG way to go before we get released, or if it actually happens at all. We’ve only had what, 3 mediation sessions? It’ll be a while…
Just important to remember it’s a process and we just have to be patient. Let the negotiation committee do their job, stay engaged and stay professional.

ALK market capitalization is just under $6 billion today, just barely more than half what it was when the VX merger was announced. Only $2 billion more than what we paid for VX with cash and assumed debt.
You would think we are approaching an inflection point that would lead our savy institutional investors to say….”what happened to my money”. There is one person who is a traceable root cause through it all…..BM.

Does anyone by chance remember the history or time-line of the Spirit pilot's strike?
Was it illegal, or were they eventually released to Self-Help by the NMB?
And if they were released, how long did the process go for, and what factors and circumstances are different in AS's case today, that supports the idea that AS pilots may never be released by the same NMB?

The time for patience was yesterday. Now’s the time to get salty.
