For those of you who have left or are in the process of leaving, did you give 2 weeks notice? Based on the world we live in today, it would suck to put in your 2 weeks, have your class delayed or cancelled, and then have Alaska be petty and tell you to F off. Thoughts?

They won’t tell you to F off, unless you’ve already earned that. You have to give 30 days to be paid out any accrued vacation. I don’t know if anyone having an issue after submitting their notice.

Lol WHAT? That's literally exactly what happened to at least one of our pilots when United canceled his class last minute during the beginning of Covid. He had already put in his two weeks at Alaska and they would not let him rescind his notice.

Alaska is notorious for not taking folks back that after giving 2 weeks, within that 2 weeks, ask to rescind their resignation for whatever reason.

I see people have short memories. No not is not at all what happened.

He had already resigned and turned in his badge. He was gone. United canceled his class the 3 days before it started. Who is working the Friday before they start at a new airline on Monday.

the real jerks were United canceling a class like that, then sending them to Express Jet as a consolation only to be put out on the street a few months later.

JBLU’s offer to buy NK, required AS to explore a merger, this has went nowhere based on AS being dug in on brand and control. I was told AS was set to make a cash offer for JBLU until their Spirit offer was rejected. I was told PB has become chairman to explore the potential sale of AS. Recently, I have seen some things that made me confident a bigger fish has approached AS. I am reading tea leaves but am confident who the whale is.

I was told by someone else BM wants to go it alone and if we fail that the shareholders are protected by OneWorld and AAL. If we were to fail on our own, we would just fold into AAL. That same person said BM is intent on not giving us contract, ever. He believes he will force his proposal down our throats when the economic tables turn. In the mean time he will use the savings provided by us working under our current contract to establish long term deals with other labor groups. He is also confident we will be parked for 6 MO’s starting in June.🙄

And ah, maybe just go to UAL, I wouldn’t want anyone to go to an airline based on merger speculation. I would not come to AS, I would go to the best company that works best for that individual pilot. Now is the time, you really could go anywhere you want right now, why settle.
It appears that he and ST are back at the table. Maybe another sudden change of heart? Or, maybe he thinks that if he personally is the one doing the shoving we will open wide?

I’m foolishly thinking they are finally seeing the data. Pilots leaving in mass and applications drying up but I think you’re theory’s right

i gave them 2 days notice when I left, while sitting indoc, no one at AS give a ****. Other than the mentioned 30 days notices for vaca payout, nothing much mentioned in the contract.

For those looking to get a quick release, the NMB has scheduled talks in early June. Also BM asked for a meeting with ALPA and heard our side and scheduled non mediated talks 5/23. I believe BM has been given marching orders from the board to fix this and fast or he’s gone. All I can say is I’ll believe it when I see it and UA just raised the bar considerably.
