Hiring driven by attrition caused by the new requirement for all FOs to hold a 1st class medical is the unsubstantiated rumor I’m hearing.

Delivery frequency is increasing which is very welcome. However the number of new 737s does not yet equal the number of retiring 737s. It’s getting close but it’s not growth yet.

I found sending a DART in to ask SLI questions very helpful. There is an SLI submenu one can select to have questions answered directly.

We have 5 more aircraft today than we had at the beginning of the year. You can call it whatever you want, but that sounds like growth to me. We also have retirements to account for.

Sounds like a rumor.

There's a very, very fine line between 1C and 2C medical eligibility. I'd guess at most a tiny handful of pilots who hold a 2C but can't hold a 1C.

The big difference is the EKG, but that doesn't mean you're good for a 2C with heart problems. They just don't bother checking.

The beginning of the year is a **** poor benchmark considering 6 of the 12 900 classics were let go in 2024…

Ok. Weren't we still a net positive 6 aircraft for the year last year? So we're +11 aircraft so far in 2024 and 2025. Still seems like growth to me.

Since you’re so knowledgeable about seemingly everything: Why don’t you explain to the class how we have growth without hiring, upgrades and a completely stagnant seniority list since February of 2024.

I used to think the same way. However, I know several FOs at WN who couldn’t upgrade because they couldn’t hold a First Class medical. Even though the FAA lowered the EKC standard post-COVID vaccine, I’m still hearing this is a problem. Maybe there’s some truth to that rumor after all.

Gee I wonder what happened that might have caused said stagnation? Are my numbers wrong or are you just back to being yourself?

So are these guys getting an EKG from a 3rd party and just not reporting it? You can't get a 2nd class medical if you fail an EKG. You can't put that genie back in the bottle.
