The union has that data. One could venture a guess that simple sections that are already mutually agreed are the ones that had to be passed to management/ALPA just as a formality, but they’ll most likely be status quo without any changes (eg, hostage/prisoner section).

I remember the very first email update we got it already had green sections (agreed). Those can be argued as sections that aren’t really changing in any meaningful way.

And pretty straightforward, basic and dare I say “boring” stuff. The meat and potatoes is underway.

Am glad you aren’t supposed to be negotiating on the behalf of the pilots

If you’re not management shy, you’re sure as he!! there wet dream.
Intentionally delaying a vote simply to let attrition pick up would be unwise.

“buy into it and take the first ask”

Is this your way of saying you’re the kind of person who would by default vote no on TA#1 just because it’s the first TA and we can always do better?

Geezus dude as others have said so glad you’re not on the NC.
No that would be stupid, it would be an unintentional consequence of the group saying no to the first offer thus delaying the negotiations.
In what industry is saying yes to the first offer ever a great idea on any negotiation unless it’s great. Why would we be any different. Why would the company give us a great first offer when this pilot group has a history of accepting less and taking the first offer.

Oh boohoo the company could staff all the 787s in Seattle with HA pilots (which btw who cares), or the economy could dump, or we could lose leverage if hiring doesn’t pick up. You’re jumping through so many hoops to try to convince people to vote yes on the first offer no matter what. #managementstooge

If it’s an amazing first offer that fulfills everyone’s asks and raises the bar then great, vote yes. I doubt it will be. Hope I’m wrong.

Don't even think about making the 787 part of your calculation as an Alaska pilot voting on this. You will have plenty of time in your 737 cockpit to KEF to cry in your overnight oats about this if you fold easily here.

I'm hopeful for the long term but through the mid term as a fairly junior pilot I think this is going to suck a lot.
I'm not saying having nothing to eat but overnight oats is a punishment, but if it was.... Pure genius.

Wonder if I’d be competitive? Thanks for any info.
You are competing against people like me for 100 spots and thousands of applicants im assuming.

7,400TT
4,400 TPIC
CA/Check Pilot
type rated

i would go to conferences and present yourself to the team. Alaska is about culture fit versus time.

I have zero desire to be in the NC or the MC. I also couldn’t care less which way you vote, it’s your choice. It’s just an interesting discussion.

I would say the one thing would be 121 time missing as the biggest hindrance. Otherwise, I’d argue you are. Of course Alaska likes if you live in base, community service amongst other things. Just go chat with a recruiter and make a friend. You’d be surprised by how nice and friendly they are.
