The reality is that allegiant management got their tails handed to them while they were trying to play "big boy airline" and getting in way over their head. Allegiant can make a profit by running airplanes into small airports and selling trinkets and hotel rooms to unsuspecting victims, but overwater operations is out of their league. You can't do Hawaii on the cheap. It takes competent support, spare aircraft and crews, quality maintenance. All of the things allegiant does not have Because they flat refuse to pay for it. The typical culture of arrogance and ignorance drove the decision to take on such a reach. Most of us predicted it would fail, and it did. I would imagine that real airlines that are still flying those routes must be laughing themselves silly right now. I know we are.

My son worked for the catering company that worked those flights. One of the problems he pointed out was that if there was a maintenance problem, the lack of frequency would strand your passengers there for several additional days.

I think you hit the nail on the head, however, I don't think the other airlines that serve the islands ever considered Allegiant a real threat.

Just got the email, 11 online courses due by January 31st. I am really fed up with having to do all of this crap on my free time. Every year seems like a little bit more. Since it is company wide do the other groups do it at the office on company time? Gotta fix this in the contract, it is getting out of control.

11 times to interrupt that required Part 117 rest.

Actually you are very correct. Ask them to put your duty time in for completing the courses. They may have to PPSK you in order to get that done. Its all part of 117.

And the best part? 100% UNPAID....

This will be the last year CBT courses are done for free. Your free ride is coming to an end, Allegiant management.
