No doubt. We can only hope the training department does their job (ha!) and adequately screens these guys. Anyone can pass a type ride (most of the newest FOs have types), but it's the real line experience I'm concerned about.

Maybe mandatory extra IOE and monthly line checks until they reach 1,000 hours in type. But hey, I just work here.

Do you know if it is HR going, or a CP?

Besides Spirit (whose attendance is sold out), we are having to compete with desperate regionals to recruit pilots. Very telling.....

I would assume yes because they are bringing at least 6 recruiters to the job fair.

After you guys sign your first CBA, I bet that will change. G4 pilots deserve much better, but some heavy lifting will be required.

Very true. I hope those who are applying/interviewing realize that they will need to assist in the lifting from day one. Otherwise, they are simply diluting the ranks and hurting us (and themselves) in the long run.

One key element to not enabling G4 management is to not accept what has been termed “Mission Mode”. A useful tool, that helps keep our pilot staffing as low as it can go. When crew scheduling is in a bind, like they always are. They hit the panic button. This short-term solution will aid management in disallowing every PTO you request. Because it artificially keeps the overall pilot staffing well below what it should be.
