Next class is in November and maybe another in January. No news on the equipment breakdown.

Hey guys can you tell me how senior OAK is? And if LAX is still a TDY base?

I am thinking about going there (I got the call about a week ago) and would like to hear more about those west coast bases and where the new hires are going.
From what I read they are sending them out to FL or other TDY bases?
Thanks!

Make sure you read up on the previous 70+ pages on this thread. A lot of the guys who post on here are senior and have a full perspective on what is going on. If you live on the west coast and have a family, stay away. Even if you're an RJ FO. The legacies are hiring thousands.

Allegiant is no place for anybody. 4 or 5 years ago it was great....now it is terrible. Even if you live in base, by the time you're done with your 6 on 1 off, 5 on 1 off, 4 on 2 off schedule, you'll be so tired you won't be able to enjoy your home. These schedules happen monthly due to horrible work rules and management refusing to negotiate. Senior people are leaving as soon as the phone rings...junior people are still drinking Kool-Aide, but as soon as that wears off they'll be gone. Hope this helps!

Hey ValuGiant I did read the previous 20pages and I fully understand whats going on and I think I can tolerate it for a year or two and move on. I worked at a crappy bottom feeder courier company before I think I can take it. But bottom line is I really want out of the Regional game and the only way I see me going there is if I can get home-based which is SoCal. And thanks for your thoughts VG.
So, is LAX even a base or is it seasonal or what? And OAK, how senior is it? If lots of guys (and gals) are indeed getting out then I may have a shot at OAKland. Same for IWA.

Allegiant is worse than Mesa Airlines. I can say that from experience.

LAX-Closed and forced people to move at their own dime over two years ago.

OAK-Somewhat senior.

LAS-Sure, if you want to be TDY'd around the system.

You are better off going to Great Lakes for a short upgrade. If thats what you want, that is...

I think you missed the "home-based" posts in the 20 pages you read. YOU WILL NOT BE BASED AT HOME. You will go to whatever base they send you and it will be for the whole month with an uncommutable schedule and you will be on reserve and they WILL send you to a base every month. It's hard to say where the junior base is right now until this base bid is over.

Allegiant appears to have evolved into the perfect marriage of the two old axioms:

(Large)small jet syndrome

There's a sucker born every minute.

No matter how many post in the know about the conditions, like cockroaches, pilots keep coming up from the swirling drain of the regionals looking for a way (anyway) into a larger jet.

Mgmt will not negotiate as long as they see a steady supply of starry eyed recruits willing to replace those disgruntled 6months plus senior pilots.

I believe it was Gordon that years ago wrote a book after leaving Continental saying he could easily make money in an airline if he was allowed to fire/recycle all the employees after 5 yrs of longevity.

Allegiant is just demonstrating that concept.

I've always said Allegiant could require you to cut off a finger to work here and people would ask which one.

Luckily those people are becoming very hard to come by anymore. Heard of a rash of regional FOs that have interviewed and then turned down the offer in the last couple months.
