How many sims does AAY provide?
I'm considering applying, although I'm not sure if I'd be qualified yet; plenty of total part 91 time, but 800 part 121 SIC hours; I know some get picked up without TPIC so it's worth throwing in an app.
I know Spirit only provides 4 sim sessions, but Frontier about 9 I believe; I'm just concerned about being rushed through on a very new airplane.

Also, I'm sure it's in here but I'm not finding it: what are the AAY bases by equipment?

10 SITS and 10 total sims; the last two are Checkride and LOFT.

FLL- Bus only
IWA-Mixed but transitioning to all Bus very shortly
OAK- Bus
PGD- Bus
PIE- Mixed but is next to transition to all Airbus
SFB-Mixed and will be 2nd to last to transition
BLI- Bus
CVG- Bus
AVL- MD80
PIT- Bus
LAX- Bus
LAS- MD80, likely to be the last to transition to Airbus

Spirit has a different philosophy regarding sims. Only 4 because they are solely used to prepare for the check ride. Abnormal ops are given outside of the simulator itself.

Allegiant Airbus has more because we lump them all together.

Unsure which is better.

With all the talk about the airbus and MD80... anyone going to the January class has a fair chance of getting the 757 it looks like. LAS is the only base.

Though slightly under minimum TT hiring requirements, I hold and operate the DC9 type for a 121 carrier. Without an internal recommendation, will the aforementioned experience appear favorable to the recruiting staff if seeking an MD80 seat? Are there any upcoming job fairs and/or forums where an applicant can entertain a one-on-one?

If there is a current line holder viewing this thread, a more in-depth discussion would be appreciated.

In New Hire now... We were told DEC will be 75s/Buses.

IWA/PIE/AVL will be all Buses by the end of next year.

Our class went 12 AB/10 MD.

You need facetime at the job fairs however, MD-80's will be the exception not the rule in new hire classes from here on out. I would expect a few more in Jan/Feb and maybe one more class before summer and that's probably going to be the show.

Your DC-9 type rating will help if you meet the right people. Have you tried emailing our flight ops recruiter? She may be able to help push you along.

Know this though, being junior on the MD-80 will be a miserable existence over the next 18-24 months while we transition. You will have lots of reserve and probably be relegated to LAS or SFB depending on which base has -80's last. I recently was told SFB looks like it will be last now.

Sync's on the money here, It was crickets for me to until I got face time with a CP, then everything moved fast.
