Anyone can fail a checkride
Please feel free to wow us with your first person knowledge of how many pilot have been hired here, post contract, with training failures. I'll help you: not many.

Sure, anyone can fail a checkride. I never have, but if you have, I'm sure you have a good excuse.

If a pilot has failed a program (washed out) or had multiple 121 checkride failures, their record indicates training issues which don't jive in a program which required 100% effort and self motivation. And I'm here to say, these people are being weeded out.

Anyone who thinks they are weeding out high time pilots, please listen to this weeks pilot hotline. Recent class had on average 6000+ hours, 3000 PIC, college, and a few had masters degrees.

I don't need to wow you with anything, nor do you need to help me in any way. You stated an absolute and you are incorrect. I'm sorry that bothers you.

Hi people! I am working my way through this thread, but damn there is too much and many tangents. I'm very interested in Allegiant, but want to get as much info as I can before I apply, so as not to waste anyone's time. I'm very strongly seeking a new path in my career and Allegiant with the home every night flying suites my new desires. I've been flying wide body int'l for the last 11 years and have no desire to ever have to layover anywhere again; I wouldn't mind 2 day trips really. So I live and am planted(as in never moving again for this career and my wife has a great job here) about 40 mins from IWA. I'm reading that commuting is not the way to go for this airline, so I hoping someone can give me a rundown on the IWA base, i.e. seniority, schedules and if not right away how long it would be to get to this base?

How bad would commuting to LAS be from PHX area, probably driving 3.5 hours since jumpseating would be at least the same amount of time?

Thanks! Okay back to the 400s to keep reading.

Phoenix is a senior base. Last I heard it could take a year to get there. You would likely be hanging out in LAX. This of course assumes you get the Airbus and not the MD80.

As of last night, the most junior IWA FO is an 8/2016 hire, and that has an effective date of 12/2017...

Thanks! Wow, commuting for a year and a half doesn't sound like much fun, especially to LAX. Does anybody have an opinion whether that might come down with the expansion of flying and more AC? I guess I should put my app in anyways and make a decision when and if I ever have the chance.

Thanks again!

We are a growing company. Don't know what the plans for Phoenix are but as FO's upgrade, that leaves openings everywhere.

As others have said, IWA is one of our most senior bases. Lots of pilots waiting to get in there, and hanging out in LAX and on VBD. AB starting to move into LAS but very senior for now. 80 is junior there but no guarantees on equipment for new hires.

Commuting to LAS by air wouldn't be too hard, with lots of flights between PHX and LAS. About a 40 min flight. AAY flies IWA-LAS several times a week too. I have driven that trip many times and Its no picnic! And it's more like 5 hours. Commuting PHX-LAX is a nightmare. Lots and lots of competition!

The flying in IWA is pretty good. Some long flights but also some short runs. Good weather most of the year. Reserves don't get used most of the year. Summer gets bad though. This base has little movement since so many people actually live there, so when you finally get it, expect to sit reserve quite a while. An announcement came out a couple of months ago that IWA is going to see growth. Most of the crews are very cool and laid back. It's a good base overall if you must live in Phoenix.
