But I think it's bad form for a certain APA member to go on a long rant on BTL about their intentions, and how we should blame big bad management.

I have no doubt management plays dirty. But you're telling me APA hás NO leverage? And he along with the rest of them need to check their feelings. 2500 of us are going through an extremely stressful situation and facing the very real possibility of being without our source of income soon. Right before the holidays, no less.

hopes were that the NC would come back and tell us the company was planning on furloughing 1200, but through creative LOAs we brought that number down to X. Instead they came back and basically threw furloughs over the entire 2500 like a wet blanket. There is NO WAY management planned to furlough the entire 2500 originally.

APA needs to be more sympathetic to what we're going through.

I don't think the original plan was to furlough 2500 when the company set out the WARN notices, however with the regression in bookings and overall drop in traffic again I think the company bumped that number back up. And I think the company came in and scared the $HIT out of the union with talks of having to furlough up to 4,000 pilots (or however many we have hired after Dec 13, 2013). It is just sad sad times we are in and short of Cares 2.0 and a vaccine I think A LOT of us are going to end up on the street unfortunately. At some point the airline will have to stop staffing an airline with 14,903 pilots when they are only flying one that requires maybe 10,000....the crazy thing is in like 4 years I think everyone on property today will be inside that 10,000 or very close to it...God this sucks.

I was hired they said over 50 percent of seniority list was set to be gone by 2027 from when I started.

Agree, Don't be surprised to see a total of 2500 or more due to the 2 for 1 on the Alternate month line. On some sort of active furlough come October. The company is going to max this LOA out the most they can.

If this is true, why doesn't the union just come out and tell us? It's scary for sure - furloughing to Dec 13 would be what, 4500 pilots? But we're all adults here, and the lack of transparency about how the LOA was not only approved, but unanimously so, does more harm than good, IMO.

Reading the Q&A if someone is awarded the ZHL they can request to be furloughed after or anytime until May. Seems like as good of backup plan as any. Bid conditionally and not roll the dice in the bubble to maybe furloughed or not. Try picking up open for a month or 2 then just take furlough and head to unemployment line.

The only question with that is if I take a voluntary furlough off a ZHL did I just screw myself out of unemployment.

Wasn’t TTS always seniority based? I always used TTOT, which is first come first served.

with TTS 2.0, will we still be able to instantly pick up trips via DECS on a first come first served basis?

No. You can collect unemployment on a ZTL And 1 on 1 off as long as you don’t make x amount of money (depends on state you work in). You didn’t ask to get paid nothing/half your salary, you were forced into it.

I think we can all agree the Alternating Month is the “best option”. It makes it impossible to pick up another job to supplement income and I guarantee APA didn’t think of that. It was probably based around making it easier to create schedules. As far as the ZTL, I’m in a VSTLOA until DEC 1. So that would net me an extra 110 hours, however, that’s almost exactly what furlough pay would be for me (1.5 months). I’m trying to decide if it’s better to be on a ZTL and just add 5 hours of vacation every month (if it’s even allowed, I emailed APA, so who knows if I will even get a response), or be furloughed, get paid out for the vacation time, collect unemployment, and use the APA SMP. Obviously the FTO option isn’t even a consideration. Why would I stay current for basically free and how do they think a R9 would go after not flying for a full year?

No and yes. my understanding is of a trip opens you have 24 hours to bid for it in TTS and is seniority based. If no one picks it up I think he first 24 hours then anyone can snag it.
