Not my fight- I'm a deltoid. Your post was rather illogical, though. Half the combined US East/West list will be gone in about 5 years.

I do believe that once the JCBA comes into place the nicolau award will be implemented. East and West will cease to exist under that, and there has only been one legally defined seniority list for the US types.

East/west disappears at POR.

Hey 80ktsclamp, how many of your pilots had to start commuting after the merger?

I understand that a great deal of NWA pilots are commuting to DTW and ATL to follow "their" equipment.

NW was primarily commuters from the get go- a far higher % than DL. The % I doubt has changed very much, though the MEM guys I fly with on the ATL Airbus were the last guys there and mostly lived in base. That is a very small category, though. On former DL south fleets I was on in ATL (767 and 737), it was mostly "so what part of town do you live in?" That was hardly the case on NWA fleets pre-merger. I believe the stat was 70-80% of NW pilots commuted.

Mergers are a big dust cloud tossed up no matter which way you put it, and 1+1 never equals 2. The combined US/AA will easily lose a 1000+ pilot positions in "synergies" when all is said and done. That will be absorbed via retirements- there are far more retirements than there are people to be synergized, but the end product with certainty will be fewer pilots than you see on combined lists now.

For **** sake, guys, let's wait and see what happens before slinging mud.

IMO, the few pilots who will want to uproot and move to one of the "other" bases, are those who have family in one of them, grew up there. I'm sure CLT is delightful, but that doesn't mean everyone is going to drop everything and rush to move there. I am happy where I'm at.

There are nice places to live everywhere. Those "poor" MIA pilots live from the keys on up to Jupiter, which is a big pilot ghetto, but very nice - I almost moved there 7 years ago. Guys at DFW go rural on acreage, or live where the schools are great and there are plenty of jobs for spouses.

I'm sure Westies and Easties are likewise reasonably happy where they are at. The "flood" wouldn't happen even if there were zero fences from day 1.

Since your retirement identification and assumption were incorrect, it's understandable that error would lead you to believe my post was illogical. All I've done is state the likelihood of fences and if you review this thread you'll see some at U either don't believe fences will occur or shouldn't occur. I think if one takes a realistic look at what each carrier brings to the marriage, one can say AA is the dowry payer. I'll bet less than 5% at AA have interest in any of U's fleet including the relative handful of A330's or their domiciles. I'm sure a percentage or two would like access to CLT and perhaps less to PHX, but that's about it. In opposition, most at U are beaming with the future possibilities considering what AA brings to the table, that being a fleet twice the size, orders/options in the mid-high 100's, additional domicile flexibility, a larger domestic and International route structure, better global brand recognition, higher compensation due to the breaking of the internal seniority logjam and other benefits I haven't even made the effort to think about. Most of the above also strengthen long-term job security.

Mentioning fences (or disagreeing with those at U who don't want them for obvious reasons), which is all I've done has apparently been upsetting. It's understandable some don't like the idea of their lottery ticket being watered down for a period of time.

My poor misguided friend, the DFR is a BY-PRODUCT of the hijacking, not the hijacking itself. From this post I'd have to go with you are ignorant, and an ass. The TA has EVERYTHING to do with the mess. It is what spawned it. It is why all mergers since have been done differently since.

The TA called for a JBCA before the use of the SLI. Since the company didn't complete that before the Nic, if gave us veto power, no matter how that veto was used-either ALPA or USAPA.

I'll ask you the question that no one else has been able to answer: What lousy contract would you accept to cement the west windfall? Because that was the choice we had, and the right we had under the TA. It won't be that way again.

Luckily, you are one of the few AA 5 percenters that I have run into so far, unlike with the AWA/US merger.

To all interested parties...Eaglefly is nothing more than a Eagle flow thru...To him anything larger than an RJ is a "Holly Grail"..He drools and trembles at the mere sight of a 767..Probably faints if he smells a 777..Most of US at airways have time on the WB..And like a beautiful women, at first she mesmerizes. After a while, shes just another girl..
..And like Tom Clancy, he writes fictitious tales and scenarios that serve no other purpose than to entertain..A true RJ punk!!

....and if you had only lived up to your end of what you agreed to in the past, most of this wouldn't matter. The fact that you dislike me for the simple position of fences being required tells me all I need to know about you as well.

But now, at least we finally agree on something !
