I got it on good authority (JH) that there will probably not be any more street hires until September or October due aforementioned training pipeline backlogs related to recalls.

For what it's worth.

Can there be people that flow through without any street hires being in class?

I don't get it. We're approaching a time where airlines are going to be competing for the best applicants and AA suspends hiring?

Why not just hire these people and put them into a pool? Or give them an indoc class and pay them to sit around until they're ready to send them to training?

Gotta get them while they're still there or UA and DL are going to get ahead of AA and they'll never be able to catch back up.

It is perplexing...

Things are thin as hell on the bus in PHL. And they don't seem to be sending any new hires anywhere except the 190.

We are sometimes down to a literal handful of reserves. We are gonna run out when summer gets here.

Are you saying that they won't resume off-the-street interviews until then, or that the people still in the pool won't get to class until then? It seems like there have been a few off-the-street trickling into classes (like April 21, May 19, etc.). Hopefully that will continue since most of the October 1 interview group is still waiting for a class. And maybe some Sept 15 interviewees are still waiting for classes too?

With thousands and thousand of applications, I don't think they'll run out of qualified applicants soon. I doubt it makes sense to hire people and let them sit in the pool for months on end. It costs a lot of money to interview them (positive space ticket, hotel room, testing, etc.), complete background checks and drug testing, etc. and then they would likely get hired by another airline and take a class before they ever get put into into class by AA. Paying them to sit around after indoc would cost too much.

Folks, I didn't mean to overstate what I "know." I had a very brief opportunity to meet JH (2-3 minute conversation before he moved on to the next person who was waiting to chat with him), and most that was spent introducing myself as an applicant. I didn't get a chance to clarify what he meant. My guess is that he was referring to CJOs for street hires. I don't believe he was talking about people who are already in the pool.

My totally unqualified impression is that throughput capacity of the training pipeline is the limiting factor. i.e., between recalls, flows, and poolies, all classes between now and this Fall are full. Again, just my unqualified opinion.

We have people that are coming back from furlough...only so many people can fit in the building at GSW

That's not what they really want to do.

That already happens. Ground school and sim training is 2 on 1. The more junior you are, the later you start class.

Go with the one who hires you first and if you still want to come here then leave.
