Try to name a legacy or UPS or FedEx.....ok how about non ACMI or regional/commuter types? Yes ABX rehired 2 guys 30 yrs ago ish. I would say it would not happen now ...even before the surplus of pilots.

FDX guy here. Would someone mind PMing me how bad/invasive your mainland and DXB Coronavirus testing has been? What consequences your guys have had for flat out refusing the brain swab in mainland ?

Hopefully an Atlas pilot will chime in. Southern is currently not flying in/out of mainland China. The Middle East became an issue with mandatory testing. We tried to avoid it for awhile by swapping crews in a non-invasive Emirate. Once that loophole closed up we worked with DHL for crews to fly Germany/Bahrain/Hong Kong or reverse without our typical Bahrain layover. It’s a long day but better than invasive testing and possibly being quarantined.

Unfortunately, some crews felt they had no choice but to submit to the swab. That just delayed the inevitable of the crew force pressuring the company to avoid it all together.

Sorry to hear what our Purple & Brown fellow pilots have been subjected to in mainland.

I am at Atlas. First, about the "brain swab". My wife was tested using this exact same procedure. At the hospital, where we live in Wisconsin, she had the two nasal swabs and the throat swab. Also, we had a crew upon arrival into DWC had the same procedure done to them, as in China, and as my wife had. They said it was OK. We had another crew in China (not sure which city) had the test given to them, and they said it was painful and/or uncomfortable. So, it sounds like it depends on who administers the test to you. Also, apparently they are also doing this test in Japan now.

I don't think we have had any crews refuse a test. We have a China MOU, so you can opt out of China flying.

Respectfully, the issue with these tests is not so much that of physical discomfort, but more about the accuracy of the test and the consequences of testing positive (either false positive or true positive) while outside of the USA.

Versus the consequences of testing positive ( false or not) while inside the USA.

The statement that no Atlas crews have refused is false.

And as of 18 hours ago there’s no testing of crews in NRT. Just a thermal scan.
