Hey gang, as a new guy in the latest hiring pool/list, does anyone have any info on how long the wait is for the class date call? I'm sure this could be as entertaining as Sinsilvia's question.

I went through about the last 50 pages before hence putting some info behind the questions to verify. I try to do as much homework as possible before applying. But between flying 135 over 20 days a months its hard to keep anything straight.

In addition I know all of zero people at atlas so its tough to get a good feel of that operator in particular vs another, which can very greatly, however cargo is a side I been wanting to fly for years.

Although I'm waiting for a class date for Atlas, I'll try to address your concerns from my point of view....
Being that this is my last day with a regional, I kinda think I know where you are coming from.
Ok, 17 days on.....well, if it's anything like the military was, plan on 19 days on. But don't think of it as "can you handle 17 days on the road", but can you handle 13 days in a row at home?
You've commuted as a regional guy, well Atlas will get you a ticket from your "gateway" airport. (Major airport) So you can kiss the days of jumpseating and hoping you get a seat on the flight to get to work good bye.
Now, I've not started with them, but after 6 months of regional life/airport living, is for the better.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think for a minute that it's gonna be rainbows, unicorns and pixie dust 24/7, but it's not worrying about commuting, you can plan a short vacation every time you are off, they have big airplanes, and it's a company that seems to have a future that has a strong appeal.

To the point of training pay :
1600 plus 57 per day in per diem. So the two months you're in training equals out to 3300ish/month which means you're only stuck with the flat 1600 for at most 2 months.

On the length of trips:
The four current trips "patterns" I am in the middle of...
1- Four day
2- Ten days...now reduced to eight
3- Thirteen days
4- Eight days
The "average" trips at my base (JFK) are 6-16 days long. Shortest was one day, longest 32 days.
