No gouge. You just list it during your interview. They will work with you to give you the aircraft that you want.

Yeah if you want the 767 you ask and are given. Presumably you want the whale which means you have to ask then wait and hope.

The cool kids are in the 767 and the grumpy old men are in the whale. Also FEDEX and UPS prefer 767 time and type rating so there's that too.

Actually, I think a lot of us in the 747 just care about the pay beyond year 1, not the aircraft. In fact, while I enjoy some of the 747 flying, I would rather be flying domestic on the 767 with no more than 3 time zones to cross...but the pay difference hurts. Let's make it one pay rate in new contract and see who ends up in which fleet.

Of course...there ARE some pilots that just "have to fly the 747"....

Haha hate to tell you, but the domestic sort is more tiring than crossing time zones. Your duty is between 22:00-06:00 meaning you have to adjust to nights. So you might as well just go to Asia

Let's see.....

come out for a week to 17 days and fly at night domestically from 2200 to 0600

OR

fly around the world through all different time zones at any hours

I think 767 domestic night ops is much easier on the body.

As we used to say in the USAF, "Gotta be heavy to fly the toughs". Oh, wait.... reverse that.

My version was, "have to be phat, to fly heavies." But now that I'm on a 320, I had to give up large Bitburger's, pomme frites and stroganoff from Michael's, for salads and white wine.. aww, the days!

Well, in my *limited* experience, there are very few schedules of 17 straight days with a sort. More like 6-9 in a row. Just enough time to get comfortable than have to switch again!

YMMV
