Is that not enough for ya with a "wet ATP" and 200h turbine?.

If you see yourself at Atlas long term, 2 years of 737 will serve you well before going to a WB.

Has anyone had an experience with getting offered a wide body class with sub-500 hours of turbine/121? I'm not super interested in the 737 because of the lack of ability to fly. Worth it to apply now or just wait it out until I get the 500 hours (should have it this fall) to get offered a wide body class? I could see myself at Atlas for the long haul but wouldn't want to turn down a CJO if all they can offer is the 737.
Right now there are tons of qualified candidates applying, so even at 500 you may not get that WB spot you wish.
How about, apply, get hired maybe on the 737, enjoy vastly superior QOL and pay compared to a regional for the 2 year seat lock, and then move over to a widebody with decent seniority?

yeah thats understandable. I was under the impression that now that they are taking people with 0 turbine and just the ATP written those were the ones going to the 73. How accurate is the 20 hours of flying a month? Many opportunities to pick up extra flying on days off?

Some guys come through that program, not all, as far as I know.
We flying 40ish right now sometimes less, but hey, if you come to Atlas long term, you shouldn’t care :-)
Open time exists “now”, but as it’s been said many many times, come here thinking min guarantee is all you gonna get.
this job is better than any regional out there, by far (737 fleet that is). And after 24 months you can bid the WBs, it doesn’t get any better than that, if ACMI is what you want.

As an Atlas widebody Captain…I don’t want you on my airplane. You obviously feel entitled to a widebody…even though you will gain FAR less experience overall than if you were on the 737. That’s not a mentality I want on my flight deck.

If you want to be at Atlas for the “long haul”…why would it make a difference to you if you spent 2 years in the 737? You would gain Boeing experience….experience on a bigger airplane than the RJ you’re currently flying…get WAY more PF legs..have better QOL based on the advancement of seniority on the 737 vs the widebody fleets…AND you would be gaining seniority just the same as if you were on a widebody, thus making your long term career bidding/advancement potential the same or better.

You feel you are too good to fly a 737. It’s obvious in your post. You don’t want to start at the bottom(as you see it). We don’t want you here.

This probably has never happened before, but I agree with HPIC here. After "a few months" on an RJ, jumping to a WB and flying 1-2 legs a month is a scary thought.

Sorry if I struck a nerve there thats not at all how I feel. It was meant to be a feeler on what lower-time people were getting hired into. The 737 is miles better than the regional jets, but like you said I'm still new to this and having more monthly flight time was my primary concern. I'm just trying to get that experience up. Didn't intend to come off like that.

You will get tons more actual flying on the 737 than on the 747.

You know where you go to get turbine time and knowledge and experience to move on to bigger and better things? Regionals. And you just started. We are in unprecedented times with the hiring that’s going on. But you should know…..most of the guys going to the big US ACMI carriers are pretty experienced. Lots of expats or otherwise highly qualified heavy drivers. Certainly plenty of regional folks as well…….but 200 hrs? Sheeeeeesh…….. It took me a 24 year Air Force career and a few years 121 experience to get hired at my ACMI shop. Yeah that post is gonna touch a nerve.
