To all Atlas guys who have kept this thread going, Thanks!

Up to pg 140 or so, and skipping back to the new ones now and then.

Question, haven't seen an answer yet, if I haven't gotten to it, sorry for asking again.

Is there a list of acceptable gateways posted? What would the criteria be if there isn't a standard listing? Wondering whether Portland, Maine would make it?
All carriers except American. Southwest coming soon due to Airtran.

Thanks again

There is an approved list. I do not see PWM on the current list. As I understand you can petition management and/or the union to add an airport. Not sure the criteria but I know it has been done.

R1 is home reserve. You are at your home and have either five hours or ten hours depending on time of day to depart from your gateway airport. By the new contract it appears the company is responsible to get you from your home to your gateway but I'm not sure. I live out in the sticks and it's better for me to get myself there.

R2 is hotel reserve. It can be in your base or at another location. The company provides the hotel in either case but you do pay tax on the imputed income if you are in your base.

R3 is hot reserve at the airport. You have to be able to block out 1+30 from being called. I've not yet run into anyone who has ever been assigned R3.

Cool. That's all good information about the reserve schedules. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity is Albuquerque on the gateway list of airports.

Below are the current Gateway Airports...you can petition the company to get one added if it is not on the list below...sorry the list is not alphabetical (formatting error due to copy/paste restrictions, and I'm too tired to fix it!!)

Ok, so here is a question for those i guess that are based in JFK that say they don't start trips there hardly ever(any other bases, feel free to chime in too). Since you guys don't typically start trips from there, where do you typically tend to start them? I don't have an interview yet either and realize, from some of the recent posts to not worry about it yet, which i am not, but am just very curious... I don't recall anybody mentioning this in the thread, and I did read the whole thing, unless i missed it somewhere. Thanks for the answers!! I am attending the fair on Sat too, so look forward to meeting some of you guys....

It's important to understand that really, there's no such thing as a 'typical' trip here. Even after you bid a line and receive the award your pairing will most likely change. Often this happens before you even begin. Having said that, I can tell you that JFK trips most often begin out of WRI or DOV headed east and ORD or CVG headed west. You may also begin your flying part of the pairing in DXB after deadheading halfway around the world. As we used to say in C-141s back in the MAC days: Flexibility is the key to airpower!
