Actually I believe that the term was "cancer on the industry".

They're about the most laid back guys and gals you'd ever want to meet and some of the most professional who work in environments most pilots would run away from.

So lighten up. You didn't hear Atlas pilots whining when Delta and others in ALPA considered them "real pilots" because they "only flew freight."
What environment is that and how do you know "most" pilots would run away from it? Why would Atlas pilots whine about being considered "real pilots?"

Kinshasa, Point Noire, Lagos, Bamako, N'Djamena, Urumqi, and then of course all the various war zones, soon to be war zones, and just finished being war zones. In other words places that suck. As much I might complain, I prefer that kind of flying to going to DFW, Philly and Atlanta all day, but I am in the minority according to my buddies with whom I stay in touch and drink beer.

I'm going to take a guess that there is a "didn't" missing in that comment since I frequently get asked by new acquaintances if I am a "commercial" pilot or if I fly freight, i.e. a "real pilot" versus a freight dog.

Hey all, I interviewed at Atlas 2 weeks ago and was wondering if anyone from any of the 3 interview days has heard anything back yet?

Same here, and no words yet. Hopefully we hear something by the end of the week.

Hi everyone, I know this is a bit off topic but seems like the best place to get an answer. How is the schedule at Atlas? I have heard that you can be gone from 10-15 days in a stretch and also heard that you are gone for 17 almost each time. When you get back is there a set number of days off or does that vary as well? Thanks!

Hoss, it can vary quite a bit. Yes there are lines that have you out for the maximum days, and yes you can be extended a few more, and yes if you bid them, you can get long trips that back up to long trips with predictable results. However, just from looking at my most recent bid package, there are also lines with shorter more frequent trips (and by shorter I mean 5-10 day trips). I'm still pretty new and just looking at the LAX base lines, but there is variety in both days worked and amount of days off.

And, I can say with certainty...that nothing is certain with the lines except when you start, and generally when you finish. Generally.

I'm so helpful I know. LOL

I'm a 'light twin' guy fresh off of IOE, and I was awarded a 60-day normal line for May and June. It breaks down to:

4 off / 9 on / 10 off / 17 on / 6 off / 7 on / 8 off

Only one big stretch of time away. Hope this helps.

Still waiting for the results, glad I'm not the only one still waiting.

So while you guys that interviewed are waiting, is it to soon to be checking the phone every five minutes just one day after submitting my resume?

Hoping I get to meet at the grill sooner rather than later!

(And thanks to EVERYONE who has contributed to this epic thread. It's amazing we're 611 pages in and still on topic with minimal to no sniping going on. Says something about the folks here... Delta aside. :-) )
