Can't get a ticket? I think it's safe to say they're "all out".

Say what you want about the NGPA job fair, but they only charge $80 for an opportunity to meet with multiple great airlines. I don't see a problem with it. I stood in line all day last year to meet with United and I do not regret doing it.

Congratulations.

As I mentioned earlier it is simply criminal that our prospective new hires are held hostage to these groups. And a person has got to what a person has got to do now days to get hired.

Agreed, and I would say it is embarrassing. In the flying profession, I think most of us believe in a meritocracy: you want candidates with the best piloting skills, and the best people skills (so that you actually enjoy flying with them).

I don't want people hired simply because they are part of some identifiable group.

I'm thinking of starting my own job-fair group: "Major Airlines Necessitate Useless Recruitment Events." (MANURE). Think it will catch on?

I wanted "Special Hiring and Interview Techniques Seminars," but it was already taken....

Devils advocate again. The money goes to a charity as opposed to some snake oil salesman selling "impending pilot shortage"

I'm not a female or black but both groups welcomed me to their events and was treated well. (Didn't go to NGpA)

I think there is some misinformation about these events because they are hosted by "scary" groups like women, black people and gays! You aren't having to pretend to be gay or anything, it's just that no one else is hosting big career events that draw a nationwide attendance from airlines.

Maybe ALPA should get in this game. Free for members. Then again, people would probably complain about trip drop pay for the guys running it !

True.

Although they already did that somewhat with the UALALPA in house events for UAX carriers.
