No, that's not reasonable. They shouldn't get help strictly because they are a minority. Anyone who wants to be in the industry should be given the same amount of help, assuming that they're qualified. To say otherwise is discrimination.

Well, sorry, but the people actually doing the hiring disagree with you, whether you like it or not.

And that's discrimination, whether you like it or not. You're just too blind to see that it's discrimination.

Was the Civil Rights Act, and its resulting Affirmative Action and desegregation movements also discriminatory?

Civil rights no, because everyone is equal. I look at people for who they are as a person, and not what they are. Affirmative action is discriminatory because it gives preferences to people because of their gender, race, religion, and sexual orientation. In fact there is only one group that you can legally discriminate against. I'm all for equality, but one shouldn't be given special treatment because of their gender and race. Again you are too blind to see what I'm saying.

You contradicted yourself, but okay, whatever you want to believe. Your racism is beginning to shine through with your third to last sentence. You can complain all day, but the fact is, the recruiters disagree with you. If you want to work for their company, you're playing on their court by their rules. Finally, if you don't believe anyone is entitled to a job because of their minority status, why do you claim you are being discriminated against (again that third to last sentence). Your presumption that these minority candidates are less qualified and hired only for their minority status speaks volumes about you, really.

And stop dropping that word "diversity" like the trained millennial that you probably are. That word needs to be expunged from the English language. It does nothing but divide minorities and majorities. BTW, someday soon in some large cities across the country, whites will be the minority! Of course that'll be ignored by the media. It already has. Where I live, in Orange County Florida, it's already swung. But the media calls caucasians living here "the minority majority." Oh no you don't! Where's my free $hit?
Spoken like the disgruntled Boomer you probably are! Touché

In some places they already are the minority, Learflyer! I am a humanist, I believe in equality for all. It's discriminatory that there are only programs in place to help minorities.

Wow your blindness really shows that you agree with discrimination as long as it is against a male! I am the furthest thing from racism, in fact I am "color blind" in the sense that I do not look at race. I am a humanist, I believe in equality for all and I believe that one should not be given preference based upon their demographics, but rather upon them as a whole person. My third to the last sentence stated that "In fact there is only one group that you can legally discriminate against," and it is true. You can discriminate against a male as long as they are not of color and gay. I don't believe that someone is entitled to a job because of their minority status, whereas you do. I fail to see how you got that from the following sentence: "In fact there is only one group that you can legally discriminate against." In fact you saying "So, since the numbers are so low, isn't it reasonable to help every one of them who WANTS to be in the industry get there?" is discriminatory since you were referring to blacks and women. Here's the preceding comment you replied to, Learflyer said " There's ample room and opportunities and even plenty of minority programs already in place IF blacks and ladies wanted to enter this profession. Some blacks do, most blacks don't. Some women do, most women don't." So what about whites who want to enter that profession? You seem to be all for helping a minority, but what about the non-minorities who want to enter that profession? As Learflyer said, there are minority programs in place for blacks and women, but what sort of programs are in place for the non-blacks and the males?

Also I never contradicted myself. Civil rights gives everyone equality whereas affirmative action gives minorities preferences because they are a minority. As such, I find affirmative action to be discriminatory. How many whites get a scholarship strictly because they are white?

Here are the demographics from the 2010 Census: White 73.1%, black 12.7%, Asian 7.4%, some other race 4.8%, multiracial 3.1%, American Indian and Alaska Native 0.8%, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander 0.2%. What kinds of programs are in place for an Asian who wants to fly, or an American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander? Also males make up 49.2% of the population whereas women make up 50.8%. So I guess minority status based upon gender should go from female to male now, right?

I am sure that I wasted a lot to time because you will again call me a racist despite not having any proof of such. Like I said, I am a humanist, I feel that a person is who they are and not what they are. But that is a typical liberal tactic, to call someone a racist who disagrees with you. Hopefully you enjoyed your free college.

Preach it Learflyer! I agree with you 100%! I have been discriminated against many times because of my skin color, and since you live in Orange County Florida, I am sure that you have too.
