I was taking a stab at it....but you made my point. Doesn't seem very cost effective.

However, if they stay for the length of a pilot career it might be?

These pilots stay with one company for their entire career. It is very cost effective!

So again....since we are taking about Carriers in the US, where pilots move around, not very probable or cost effective. I think the discussion was about hiring low time 172 type and move them into the rt seat of a 767. You really produce a pilot with almost nothing to offer in experience when fighting wx, slippery runways, high terrain, language barriers, all the different countries procedures that take years to learn. The Captain is really just single pilot, as I said alot of work. We have seen an uptick of upgrade failures because of only being at the airline a couple of years and really only flying a few select routes.

At AJT is more like the autopilot is the only pilot.

I've been an airline training captain for 22 out of my 40 years flying. I can assure you that you don't need to explain how it works since I have trained everything from cadets to experienced pilots.
Like I have already mentioned to the original post writer that it is possible but a difficult route to take since these programs are not designed for low experienced pilots.

I think I might already possibly know the answer? But, would anyone recommend going to AmeriJet as a Line Check Airman. I'm younger (33), 767 typed, live in Cincinnati. I wasn't sure if maybe living in CVG would be advantageous or not. Anyways, I know the negativity of the ACMI world, I've been in it before. I'm just wondering if it might be something worth looking at. Thanks
