New contract on the way for 2020; you couldnt pay me 300k+ to leave right now at my seniority. I anticipate 15-16% DC coming and I will never go thru an airport again switching planes for 4 days in a row dealing with people and commuting. I prefer my 1st class seat to and from home...

Kalitta has become a career destination for most guys. With the 777 growth theres no telling what great adventures are going to happen the next 3-5 years...

Block - 605

Total compensation- $290,554

Picked up a few 200% trip this summer

Home 15-16 days on average, and commuting 3 times each month. All reserve time is commute able (both ends) along with most trips (during a regular line months). Many of our CA who live in base was pushing $300K + DC and more days at home. LTD own occupation until 65 is another big plus.

Upgrades is under 3 years, with current fleet of 145 ish and will be around 300 + 50 option by 2027.
No disrespect but you worked 2.2x harder than I did to make that extra money. As a guy who was at the regional level for 11 years I know what that 605 hours feels like.

The 767 fleet at K4 is probably more comparable to the ULCC than our 747 fleet. The past 2 years at K4 guys have been knocking down 350k at the top and if you really wanted to work probably closer to 400k...

Where I sit (I can hold left seat on all fleets) you couldnt pay me enough to commute and walk thru the terminal looking like a zombie on starbucks crack 😁😁😁

Cheers

Yeah, I know a guy at ATI who is looking at upgrade under the year mark. I think it's probably a wash between Omni and ATI on ugrade unless you came out of a heavy somewhere else. Either place you can probably upgrade as soon as (or perhaps before) you have the necessary experience. From what I can discern, Omni is the better place *for me*, but they're both pretty good choices at the moment. That is, provided you like the kind of flying they do, which not everyone does or will. And of course they're both owned by ATSG, and that is always a dark cloud on the horizon.

That said, I'm happy as a pig in poop at the moment. We go good places (mostly), don't work too hard, I'm still learning a lot, I've yet to fly with a jerk (I'm sure it will happen), and the paychecks arrive on the appointed day with the correct number of zeroes at the end. One thing I'd put in the "plus" column for Omni (and I'm not a cheerleader...it's not a legacy, or anything like one) is that while global freight may or may not crater, we're extremely unlikely to stop sending troops all over the planet. Just a data-point. Good luck, whatever choice you make...everything is at least a bit of a gamble, it's the nature of the business.

You've seen my block times so you can guess. It sounds like you're really reaching to show how much life is so much better at your company than an ULCC company. Even though it doesn't matter to me, since i'm just putting out info to help out to those interested instead of saying one is better than the other. How many times do i look at flights and how often am I in the jumpseat? really? are you going dig that deep? I would say once a month which is no big deal since my commute is about an 1.5 hrs and most of the time it's on my own airline (There's 11-15 flights total a day). I list for the JS ahead of time. If I don't get on the first (which is rare) I make it on the 2nd time on my own or the company buys me a ticket. We may not have the lounge access but I just go in, do my 3-4 day trip and go home. I rather have the extra money I make than hotel points, airlines miles and so on. The great thing is I can manipulate my schedule how I want as a line holder, so days between trips is irrelevant because it change monthly. I can take as much time I want off, since I can drop to 0. If you are more excited about airline miles hotel points and lounges, over extra pay, DC, LTD schedule flexibility, that's fine. One big thing that you didn't mention is, we sell our own tickets and don't have to rely on contract like the regionals, which was the biggest stress relief when i left the regionals.

I think the important number is how many days we are home or away, does it make that much of a difference if you're gone half a month and block 10 or 50 hrs in a month? This is why schedule flexibility is so important, I can work as much or little as I want. If I want to take 2 weeks off, i can drop the trip and take a hit in pay. I was able to drop 100% trips and pick up at 200% trips over the summer, which means i can maintain the same days off or more with more pay. We have CA who live on a boat and do just a 4 day trip a month, or a pilot who commutes from Alaska and leaves for 9 days and take the rest of month off. We have CA who credited over 280 hrs in 1 month, or those who live in base and does mostly day trips and only gone 2-3 nights out of the month. Our numbers will be all over the place.

Come on now, how many time zones do you cross and how long does it take to get back to normal once you are home? I would think that's worse than my 1.5 hrs commute where I can barely finish a movie, plus the 117 rules makes a big difference.

Hahahah, I'm doing cvg-ewr with 15 hours off in between. Worst trip I do is CVG-SFO because of the head wind.

I just want everyone to be happy because it's a shame that we still have brothers and sisters at regionals and other carriers still living with poverty wages in this job climate.

To make my final opinion on the matter, there is just too many factors to compare with an ACMI and a ULCC...

This. I think it's probably true that an LCC/ULCC is the better place for *most* guys, but they're not so far apart that the comparison is ridiculous, which is why threads like this are useful rather than just more dick-sizing. My hope is that everyone who doesn't suck keeps climbing the ladder and winds up where they want to be, with help from the dudes who have gone out ahead to scout.

Call me crazy BUT I believe guys/gals should be able to make 75k as regional FOs an 150k as regional Capts and the industry should go up from there.

I think we take for granted just how much responsibility we carry even at the regionals. Our guys/gals have tremendous responsibility and should be paid accordingly!!!

They also had a brief window where they hired street captains a four months ago. Since then a number of FO's finally met minimums, or changed their bids. The most recent awards were 2+ year guys.
