Cole -

Times: 10,000+ TT, 3,000+ jet PIC, 3 jet types,

Recommendations: 7 line pilots, 1 management pilot, and 3 very, very high up management recommendations.

I believe that recommendations are the key. The higher, the better. You could have 6 lunar landings and an orbit in the Sputnik last week and recommendations will serve you better.

Good luck. I consider myself very fortunate.

Sincerely,

Red

With those recomms you'd better had gotten the job. Pulling croc teeth would seem easier for most of us.

Congrads. V1, rotate, gear up!!

Wow Red,

Hell of LORs you got. And it is true about the lunar landing stuff. Lunar 6 of them, no LORs....no interview. I've been in the pool for awhile now. really looking to get out.

Congrats on the pool.

I'm looking to bail from NW also after 8 yrs. Does UPS require resign seniority? I think it's a much more viable career in the long term, however it would be nice to keep it just in case.....

I flew with the 75/76 Chief Pilot this morning and asked about hiring predictions. The reply was "It looks like the numbers will be about the same as last year." Close to 300. The machine needs to start spinning a bit faster if they are to meet those goals me thinks.

No doubt. It would be great if that was the case though.

Congrats to all of you new hires. I must say the all of the excited attitudes about working for big brown is a bit much. I have been here now 16 years and 1 month and can say without a shadow of a doubt that your attitude will change very quickly about this company. The paychecks will be be deposited in your account every two weeks but having to earn them will be tough. UPS does not care about you or anything that you have to say. They only want team players who will go the extra mile day in and day out no matter what. Being that I am only 41, I try to grin and bear it but coming to work here does wear a person down. UPS needs a complete overhaul in it's corporate mentality of employee treatment. Ask any long term package car driver who stops at your door how he feels about his job and then tell me if I am wrong. Now that I have said that, let me me say you will not find a greater bunch of folks within our pilot group. We all strive to make this place better. UPS is slowly changing. I only hope it's within my last 18+ years. Good luck and stop by the ASC and I will buy each one of you new hires a free breakfast.

Cheers,

I don't know you from Adam, but give me a break! You were hired when you were 25 years old! That's only a couple of years out of college for most people. How in the hell did you pull that off.
You complain about a dream job that many of us have strived for years to get. Myself and many others have wasted away the years flying 135 cargo, regionals etc, just for one shot at a chance to fly for UPS. I know a few pilots at UPS (non management) and they all agree it could be better, but their worse day on the job is nothing compared to most pilot jobs out there. You act as if UPS is the only company to treat their employees this way.

So parden us for our "excited attitudes" and let us enjoy the moment.

wigwag:

you are right in that you dont know heavyjetpilot but many of us on here do. heavyjetpilot is a great guy. i don't think he is complaining about his job or your "dream-job". it seems to me that he is offering some great advice and additional information about life at brown.

i guess its sad to feel you have wasted your life building experience to better qualify yourself and make yourself more competitive in a very tough job market. its interesting that you seem to find fault with him getting on at a younger age than some. instead of faulting or questioning his achievement, why not listen to what he has to say- hey it worked for him, right?
