UPS Hiring

Wigwag,
I have to say I agree with the above post by Sue. Use his story as an inspiration to do well for yourself.
Although the management-pilot work culture here is bad, we still love our jobs because of the nice routes, aircraft, fellow flyers, and pay-- especially following our next contract ratification.

"I don't know you from Adam, but give me a break! You were hired when you were 25 years old! That's only a couple of years out of college for most people. How in the hell did you pull that off."
I'm not sure what your point is. I got hired at 29. Prior to UPS I flew Grand Canyon tours in 206's, worked for the FAA at LA approach control, spotted fish is a Cessna 150, flew 135 night cargo in Aero Commanders and flew 121 night cargo in Convairs.
Everything Heavyjetpilot said is spot on.
I'm not sure what you want? UPS guys should keep quiet so you can enjoy your moment? Works for me, I guess.....

To all on here,
Well I appreciate the kind words from several of you on here. It nice to know how others feel about you. As for the others, everyone is intitaled to his or her own opinion. As for being hired at 25, I guess you can call it luck or anything else you care to. I was very fortunate early on and I have always remembered those who helped me along the way. I always thought I was the most fortunate guy in the airline business until I did a recent PC with a fellow friend and A300 Capt who is just a bit younger than I am and he told me was hired 2 years and 8 months from his first airplane ride. As for me it was 3 years to the very date of my first plane ride. Well enough of the me stuff.
Guys remember I am not trying to ruin your new hire parade. Please enjoy the moment, the job, your fellow pilots, the cafeteria in the ASC and anything else that comes with the job. I was only trying to make a point about UPS in general. That's all.
Lastly, like I said before come by the ASC and see me for your free new hire breakfast. If we ever have the opportunity to fly together I will buy all the beers.
Take care,
CW

The paychecks will be be deposited in your account every two weeks but having to earn them will be tough. UPS does not care about you or anything that you have to say. They only want team players who will go the extra mile day in and day out no matter what. Being that I am only 41, I try to grin and bear it but coming to work here does wear a person down. UPS needs a complete overhaul in it's corporate mentality of employee treatment. Ask any long term package car driver who stops at your door how he feels about his job and then tell me if I am wrong. Now that I have said that, let me me say you will not find a greater bunch of folks within our pilot group. We all strive to make this place better. UPS is slowly changing. I only hope it's within my last 18+ years. Good luck and stop by the ASC and I will buy each one of you new hires a free breakfast.

Son of a biatch!!!!!!!!!!!! I just went to Z. "I will buy all the beers...". Had I known that, I would have gone to the Bus. Be careful though HJP, it could get expensive for you, and usually the domestic skippers are a little tighter than the int'l ones!!!!!!!!!!
