Furlough and that dog will be awoken. I suspect UPS doesn't want to do this. They announced a furlough hoping to get something from our contract. I have heard everything from PBS to not paying back sick time at the end of the year. The IPA came to UPS with hundreds of people willing to walk away so the bottom 300 don't get furloughed. UPS never figured that would happen. Now they are scratching their heads trying to figure out how to fix the mess they are in. PR nightmare if they don't allow guys to walk away voluntarily and instead insist on concessions and or furlough.
I am sure the union is watching this. (at least I hope). It is interesting that some of the training supervisors that are not yet qualified (after a couple of years) on the their fleet types are currently getting qualified so they are not high mins Capts anymore.

I just flew with one that asked me when the union was going to bring him in. He was getting qualified and building credentials because he didn't feel his job was safe. He wanted to make himself as necessary as possible.

you sound like you would do it to if it was your family.....
I agree FrontSeat. You can use what ever excuse you want. I have a wife and 3 kids...plus I am paying medical bills and a mortgage for my parents (who lost their job).....maybe I should go over to Management so I can make more money and not be threatened with a job loss....

CC it is a Slippery slope that once you go down there is no turning back...I am sure your friend is a "great guy"

I would be more than happy to have those positions in the union where they belong...IMO.

I hope he signs the card when/if we furlough.....

Your post sounded like what I want to hear from the next EB candidate. If there's a better way to galvanize the junior guys on the list to treat the co. w/ as much respect as the "class" of 88, it escapes me.

Beaker,

Can you imagine turning Biggs loose in a meeting/negotiation??? That would indeed be interesting.......

Right now we have a sick dog......silent dog, a dog that sleeps next to the masters bed.

Well lets hope that when the old dog is poked with a stick from the master, he still has teeth.....I am pretty sure he does

Well, then you and I can agree to disagree about attitudes towards ALL management pilots. I still personally believe that it's a misdirected use of our energy and resources.

The slippery slope is making excuses for going to management....we all have reasons justified in our own minds....

I am with you on devoting resources and energy to making those positions, IPA positions......lets roll!!!

Is this even on the EB's agenda anymore? Haven't heard much concerning this topic except for the occasional internet ramblings from our members. Maybe it's time we make a strong push and light that proverbial fire under the union's a$$ (I'm so gonna be banned for saying ass on APC).

Let's make UPS's latest decision concerning the furloughs their biggest mistake ever.

Unionize them non-union UPS pilots!!!!
