I can tell you first hand that several people have "stepped up" to offer their service in the ExCo position and been either ignored or stalled by 1224 (or refuse to work with the failing leadership that's in place). There is another agenda at work that we're not aware of.

Permit me this one incursion gentleman, if only because it seems so close to home. Despite the infighting, backsliding, bottom deck dealing and outright deceit of what might be called negotiations, somebody has to do it...heart & soul of a thankless enterprise.
Still not deterred? At no point since that severe clear day Moses held high his staff and pronounced, “Red sea express, gather your things” has there been a shortage of characters collecting on the backs of those who hump the load. High bypass turbofans and magenta lines notwithstanding, no one – no one – has squeezed more juice on the action than da brotherhood.

I know the 1224 is worthless. They do just enough to barely get by and make sure our dues are collected. They sold us out along with the original "negotiating" committee for our first contract. Hopefully the new negotiators will be able to make positive progress for this pilot group and not take years to get a good contract for the pilot group.

...And let's not forget that the Teamsters Business agent for Omni is a former pilot who failed to get through the Omni training program...If that's not a conflict of interest....Can you say axe to grind...

How did 1224 sell you out on the original contract? I thought you guys were under local 747 with the original contract.

The 1224 took over before the first proposal and we have been under them and forgotten about since then.

Caution, ignore the following…
It’s not 1224 per se. It’s not even ole King Jimmy and his chauffeured inner circle of 5 star hotel booking toadies. Just the inevitable way a kingdom evolves, largely through its own success, to perpetuate & protect what’s most important; itself. Thereby, becoming insular and unresponsive to specific needs within each group represented, most especially the smaller ones. Do the big picture skim calculation and there is a lot at stake, a lot. What organization could just walk away from that?

Well said, Sir. Believe me, this isn't an issue limited to the Teamsters. As a former ALPA insider, I can personally attest to a lot of feather bedding in that organization as well. The kicker is, if you're an insider and refuse to participate in the "action" you quickly become a pariah.
