Why did you leave without getting a classdate at Omni? Do you know when you may get one? Which airplane are you hoping to get? Have you heard any rumors on which one may be available?

wow!? I can't believe someone would do this? I hope it works out but man talk about rash. I knew a guy that quit evergreen 3 months before his class date at atlas. Guess what? His class got cancelled and then he had to re-interview, and he didn't get the job the 2nd time around. All the while he could have still been employed at evergreen.

Furthermore, I left the door open to return to my current job, but I would lose my seniority number and some longevity pay, which isn't the end of the world, but would be unfortunate. I want to go into training without any distractions, hence the decision to give myself some time to get things in order back in the states prior to starting training.
I also go to school online and I want to focus on making sure that this semester is complete prior to attending training at Omni. I was suppose to graduate this Summer, but do to the anticipated training at Omni I have taken the Summer off from classes. I have a high GPA, and want to maintain that, and don't want to do a rush job on things to get them finished up and see my graduating with honors that I have puts lots of effort into go to waste. I plan on finishing up the degree once online at Omni and graduating Spring 2012 now.
Given the situation, I don't see the decision as rash, I see it as smart and well calculated. I am also going into a rent free situation from now until whenever training is done. I am certainly aware and not denying that there is risk in doing such a thing. But basically when in training I need to ensure that there is less going on in my life than right now, including moving from outside of the country, and school. I am very career and mission oriented, and right now, the goal is to pass training at Omni, everything else can wait, and unfortunately I can't put the brakes on everything I have going on in two weeks to start training, so it is taking some planning.
Given this information do you still see my decision as rash and too risky or do you see it at smart and calculated?

See the above post for the "why did you leave without a class date" question.
There were four of us that interviewed and collectively we were told and have reconfirmed that we should expect an April class date. I would prefer the 777 hahaha (just a joke, as that is not going to happen) I expect the 757/67 or DC-10. You can bypass one training date for whatever reason, but the second time you are offered a training date you must take it, or your out of the pool and can not re-interview for a year. I plan on taking whatever plane they assign me, as I have no intentions of jumping ship any time soon, and could swap planes down the road if I wanted, after any seat locks (2 years I think) are released. I think it would be crazy to bypass to try and get a different airplane, with seniority being as important as it is in this industry.

I agree "Way" ... I found myself in a close situation in my past and I'm glad I took just a little time to move back to the states (from Brussels), get my crap together, do some fishing, and be completely ready to study my a$$ off in school. My mind was clear, my liver needed rest ... so I was in the right place. I still didn't have a real place to hang my hat but in the end ... was one of the best decisions I made. (Still miss Brussels though)

Home ... I went to training and had a hotel ... a girlfriends house ... and ex-girlfriend ... THEN moved to SAT. The job worked out perfectly. Sweet gig. Lasted 4 years ... then onward - and upward.
