Swift air

SWA window is open again. How many will depart....
How will the turn over affect the growth of Swift. Management seems to think its current retention policy is adequate for their current plans, but experienced people are heading for where the money is, where the quality of life is, where newer, more reliable aircraft are.
Rapid expansion is not the answer right now. Crushing the competition in the race to the bottom is not the answer.
Safe, Reliable, well maintained aircraft, well trained flight crews, then talk about growing.....

The growth will at some point simply be stunted by the market.
They can only hire (keep) so many pilots so the max number of airframes they can sustain is X.
If they get greedy and keep acquiring airframes they'll implode.

Well as per CEOs newsletter all these acft have work allocated for it. We're hiring as best we can, many of of us have taken many volunteer roles to help it come through, whether it's hiring, jumpseat, hotels etc. They're slowly realizing their supply of pilots has to come from the regionals and have to compete with them.
They're finally getting NG training out to the pilot group, so it's coming quick fast and in a hurry.

Who
I guess you're talking about me? Put down the spooker!
All airlines will have to address compensation for any and all work done, including any and all training.
Apparently things are happening at Xtra now and they should be hiring shortly so let the games begin. Swift is doing well but Xtra does have a union. Xtra/Aersale will have to decide what is wants to be, small or bigger. Yes, Swift does need to watch it's growth. So many have met their demise under such ideas.
Btw, SWAs hiring numbers have gone up, WAY UP. I heard a 900-1000 a year for a few years.
Good times.

"Volunteer roles" means you don't get paid for work which benefits the company.
Convenient......for the company.
Take a lesson from Eastern and Dynamic, all these companies are one incident away from folding.
That's a shaky foundation.

Hmm really didn't realize that.....Just like roles most of us played at ALPA or other organized carriers working different committees to help our pilot group get better. Many of us came with experiences from different carriers that can benefit the pilot group and try to help each other out either by finding good pilot candidates, running our jumpseat committee or fighting for better hotels. We don't have the resources a big airline has, so banding together helps improve our quality of life. We have gone a long way since I started here.
Yeah the company benefits by volunteers, but guess what at other airlines these roles are also volunteer driven. I never collected a paycheck from ALPA or teamsters helping my brethren out. I was glad to do it.

I understand your sarcasm but also realize that the business plans of companies like Swift count on people like you. They count on people's loyalty and the "urge to make it better" misplaced or not.
And that is with the utmost respect to you.
But part of the business plan is "free" help.
But counting on people to fix what you fail to provide in the first place is morally and ethically wrong.
It's the same thing as planning that already includes a duty day extension.
But hey, that's just my opinion.
