Not the first company where they didn't pay me for pre-ground school training. Not to mention regionals I worked for didn't always pay for cbt training either. So it's not uncommon. XJT i think was the only place we got paid like 4hrs a year for cbt.
When I started here most people didn't have it done anyway. I spent Indoc doing systems cbt and taking notes. Never had a problem.

Perhaps
In the past that was true I do not know about now. With the shortage of qualified crew as the airline grows, they will need to pay to attract decent people. Just my opinion but, getting effectively two weeks of training via a huge amount of emails, unpaid, will scare people off. Plus, before you ever show up or even get an ID, you get these emails about doing all this training in ten days or less. And it doesn't stop there. Delta or any major or even the best regionals-maybe but some charter outfit trying to grow, and a lot, plus the Eastern mess, it will convince people to perhaps look somewhere else.

For once, I can say that I agree with the Braniff...
Management will try to take advantage of the Eastern mess, and get away with what they can. Not realizing that the people coming over from Eastern are coming over, but are likely to leave as soon as something better becomes available.
The 2 800's are supposed to be on the property on, or before September 8th. With no one to fly them, as most of the EAL people have moved on, or will , to greener pastures. We are not doing what it takes to attract, and retain experienced people.
This place is crying out for good management, or a good Union....

Quite a bit of people have already been through 800 training. Began with the MIA pilots and check airmen.

Some of the Eastern guys will move on, but most of the guys that are going, are really going to give it a try. We know it's far from perfect, but we appreciate the opportunity to have a job in a growing company. Let's face it, if you read the boards for American, people tell you not to go there, UPS, same thing, Atlas, same thing, Spirit, more of the same. If Swift works for you, which for a lot of us it does, then you go at it, if not, then you just look elsewhere. Me personally, I'm looking forward to it. As in many things in life, attitude determines outcome.

Great Attitudes, high employee morale, great enthusiasm. That's how Eastern started out. Without exaggerating, I could name you ten companies that their employees had great attitudes, but they are no longer here. It's all about the investors, not the employees with great attitudes.
But you are correct, if one is not happy with the status quo, then they should move on.
That's what life is all about...
That's what capitalism is all about.
CHOICES....
