Most live near base or have access to AA. I live in ATL and when required to start my trip in BNA I do the 4hr drive. When they need me somewhere else they fly me from ATL. We have commuters, but most can make it in to their base by car or plane. Don't know how the cvg thing will play out, that's not really an easy place to get to.

Depends what you're working
IWA and SAT you will be going to Mexico and Central America on a daily basis.
Mia you'll go to Cuba and the Bahamas
All the other bases are dependent on the teams or where they need you at he moment. With the hockey teams you'll definitely go to Canada a lot.

Thanks Mex. Can you break down the fleet? 1-300&8-400s? Three -400 frts coming for CVG?
All EFIS or mix?
Where is training done? Pay during? What if already typed?
Uniforms?
BENNIES?
You're C.P. called and I am typed but would like some info, if you can or pm me.
Xtra/Songbird called too but I heard that place is horrendous.
I live in Miami so not sure how long it would take to hold.
Thanks.

We only have one EFIS bird. Pay during Training is $64/day per diem. I would guess you won't be able to hold MIA for a while unless there is more flying added there. At least one Captain is waiting to get back there now. (MIA FO that upgraded). 1 -300 and the rest are -400's. Not sure of the total Freighters being added. We have one now, I'm pretty sure at least 2 more plus 1 or 2 VIP aircraft being added

Our first freighter arrived in GSO a couple of weeks ago, it's a 300, not sure if it's EFIS or not. Like he said we only have one efis bird. Old school flying! They said were supposed to have 2 freighters.
Uniforms you get 2 pairs of pants, a tie, 1 set of wings and epaulettes. Shirts are on your own dime.
Bennies well just basics. Life, health. They're supposed to start a 401K program this year. They're changing our health plan to a high deductible not sure how much that will run.
MIA might be a little while, unless the deck shuffles around again.

Does not really sound all that good honestly. Bennies are important for people and all night flying will make more fatigued/sick which means more will quit. At least with the regionals you get travel bennies as well.
The likes of Swift/Xtra/Falcon/Orange come and go but people keep working for such low terms and conditions so they keep cropping up again in other forms. If we can convince people to stop selling themselves short.
If you beg like a do you will get treated like a dog.

You make good points. I'm trying to determine what they do have for travel,,, jumpseats on AA, I believe, but any jumpseat is going to be a hard way to live going to CVG. The place is tough to get to. Have to connect. I live out west which is even worse. Then there is crashpad considerations. Crashpad and probably a few unavoidable airline ticket expenses are going to be costly. There goes the salary and the 10 days off?
I'm finding it difficult to quantify just what life would be like. I think they used to have home basing. Now that expense/hassle is shifted to the pilot via commuting and crashpad
???
