Nah, I'm a Houston guy. Never been out to LAX - too tough a commute. I just wanted to let you know that you aren't the only person trying to decide to jump ship at XJT. I start at CZ second week of July. Final four-day at XJT this week.

It never came up in the interview, but if you have worked in the industry for a while, you just know that flow-through agreements are more beneficial to the legacy pilots as furlough protection than they are to the regional pilots as a job placement program. Flow-through was barely a factor for me in making the decision to go to CZ. It is only worth the paper it is written on to me.

Done. I'll get back to you as soon as possible, and maybe we'll be in the same class. You in MSP? I'm in SLP (if you are in MSP, you'll know).

And, by the way, that's not Potosi, but a suburb of MSP...

Hey guys,

I've been searching these forums for more info on Compass. I don't really want to spam the boards to get 10 posts and PM so I'll throw my email address out there. I'd really like some info on the company. I've got an interview with them on Thursday but I'm torn with the flowthrough/back policies and the current state of all airlines.
Currently I have 2600TT, 1600PIC-Turbine and i enjoy my current job, but I'm looking at maybe moving into the 121 world.

I would greatly appreciate some communication with some compass pilots as I have many, many questions. Thanks in advance.

As a new hire, and going through the contract with some "more mature" pilots, it doesn't seem to work that way.

If a furloughed pilot from NW decides to flow back there has to be a position available for them to flow into. Their seniority would be placed ahead of those CP pilots who had not yet been offered Flowthrough. Any pilot who had turned down the flowthrough to NW would retain their seniority at CP and fall under protected status. This is added incentive to stay with CP so that CP doesn't lose all their experienced CA's every year.

Also, any NW pilots who flowback, will not be offered flowthrough again. I'm sure they can still be called back, just no flowthrough.

As I said, I'm a newbie, but we combed the contract the first day and grilled LC as well. Hope this helps.

Any NWA furloughee has rights to compass or mesaba. in regards to compass flowbacks can occupy up to 90% of the seniority list. If you go back to compass as a captain its on 2nd year ca pay rates and if you go all the way back to FO you go to 4 year FO compass pay. When NWA recalls you can go back, if NWA asks you to stay at compass due to low staffing at Compass at the time NWA has to pay us the greater of the 2 rates(nwa rate you would be on or current Compass rate whichever is higher) Mesaba is much more limited since its a new deal, i believe less than 15 spots are available at Mesaba. The Compass deal was written to protect NWA pilots in the event of furloughs. So its more beneficial to NWA pilots in the bad times since scope was relaxed. Hopefully the costs associated with furloughing NWA pilots, only to retrain them/us at compass and furlough compass guys, out weighs the cost of just paying newbs at NWA probationary wages. I dont think furloughs will happen mainly because of the "plans" of the new Delta. Hoping for the best.

Anyone know how many Mesaba pilots actually "flowed up" and entered NWA training ?

There are 13 that are awarded the flow, one of which is MGT so I don't know what his status is. So it would be 12 flowbacks for sure and one undecided.
