John Wayne Airport, Orange County

Calgary, Hawaii flights cut back at JWA - Orange County Register

The good news is the airport will get a second commuter airline early next year if Compass Airlines signs a contract with the county and passes noise tests on its jets. But don't look for Compass; it will operate as the commuter arm of Delta Air Lines and will have aircraft painted in that carrier's livery.

Jenny Wedge, spokeswoman for the airport, said Compass will not fly to any new destinations

I'm guessing to SLC? 175 has the range for MSP, but that's a high volume route now served by the 320.

Interview in November

Got a call for an interview which will be in mid-November. I submitted my application in July and I was surprised they already called me. I have no Part 121 or turbine experience. Maybe meeting with people at the job fair helped..

Who says that your outward appearance is at all related to your inner emotional feelings? Just check those boxes anyway! They aren't allowed to ask about it in the interview, if they do call Gloria Alred or Jesse Jackson.

Upgrade times and reserve time

I was wondering what the current out look is for upgrading at Compass? I have been told 3 to 4 years does that sound about right?

I was also wondering, as a new hire how much time would you sit reserve at DTW and MSP? If you hold a line and commute do you spend most of your time off commuting?
Thank you for replying.

It's currently 2.5 years, and will decrease once the flow starts up. Magic question is when that will begin. My guess would be late 2012, but it could be slightly longer.

How long you sit RSV depends on when you get hired and how many they hire right behind you. Some guys got hired, sat RSV 2 months and had a line from then on, while others have been on RSV for 6-8 months now. MSP has a lot of trips that are commutable on one end, and a fair amount that are on both. Depends where you are commuting from, as most trips finish by 2100, in time to catch the last bank of flights out.

All depends on flow-ups to Delta. If there was a steady 1-1.5 year of hiring at Delta then the upgrade could theoretically be 1.5 years. Delta has announced reducing flying but there's still rumors of them doing hiring in preparation for large amounts of attrition. It's anybody's guess. If I had to put money on it, I would guess 2-2.5 years for people hired now because of the forced retirements coming up. But, again, that's a guess.

There's been people that have sat reserve for 7 months and people that sat it for 2. All depends where you end up in the stack with aircraft coming on, etc.

Im going on two years now and still 80 numbers from upgrade. No flow = no attrition here. At best 3 years from doh to upgrade for me maybe more.....
