Source on the 25 leaving in just a weeks time??? Havent heard that one yet.
Word is (or rather, rumor) there is no reserve pilots in LAX. So maybe the shortage of applicants will help with the shortage of checkairmen. But there is a good chance those waiting IOE will get delayed I think...
Haha, yeah... no they arent going to other regional as check airmen, haha. That wouldn't be a lateral move...
The interview is really not that hard... I mean, it "shouldnt be".
I thought it was a little challenging at the most. Honestly just one of most thorough of the ones Iv been through. Im glad it was thorough. It shows they take the hiring process and training seriously, and professionally. Had compass been a phone call interview and a job offer, or the 4 months republic played phone tag with me, I doubt I would have accepted. Coming from the corporate world(not just flying, but business jobs too), seeing the employers organization and professionalism first hand in the interview process is very much an insight to what you will see as an employee.
on another note....
I know this is a bit blunt... but if someone cant pass any of those computer tests, Im glad I wont be flying with them and glad they wont be responsible for me or any other passengers. So should you.
Got to weed em out somehow...

A Pilot with good airman ship will shine or not in the sim... not at some cognitive test.
I have known genius who mastered difficult mental test....and couldnt fly a paper plane....

and besides that...you can take a sharp 25 year old guy and a 60 year old doing the same test and you will see different results....
so tell me is the 60 year old dude not qualify for flying your family or mine around the country?... because his reaction time got slower by age? even though he has been a captain for 20 years?....
our profession is base in knowledge and also experience...
you cant replace experience...

I did say, I'm glad they do the tests, and glad they chose to uphold the standards. A benefit to those flying, and those riding in the back.

ExpressJet, skywest, compass all have testing to get hired....and obviously legacy companies do as well. Pass the tests if you want the job. That's all there is to it.No point arguing over whether you think its valid to have that as part of the process to get hired. Compass has been doing it that way for almost 8 years. It is what it is.
Good luck.

The test requires you to study and put time in. It isn't too much to ask if you really want the job.
